    RATZ, Jean Isabel (nee Fairies) - Passed away, suddenly, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, in her 67th year. Dearly loved wife of Herbert Charles Ratz; dear mother of Steven George Ratz and his wife Marie Helen Lessard of Orangeville, Clare Anne Ratz Pavanel and husband John Charles Pavanel of Conestogo and Thomas Charles Ratz and wife Kimberley Jane McKee of Thunder Bay. Proud grand-mother of Derek and Sebastien Ratz, Hailie, Charlie and Nicholas Pavanel and Brammall and Willa Ratz. Sister of Mrs. Barbara Watson of Dundas. Jean grew up in Hamilton and has been a resident of Waterloo since 1963. She was a very active member of First United Church in Waterloo where she was a member of the adult choir and a former president of the UCW. She also helped to found and run the First Step Nursery for 20 years, for which she was awarded a Provincial Community Service Award; also the K-W University Women and the K-W Symphony Volunteer Committee - Jean's family will receive friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S. in Waterloo today (Monday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at First United Church, King and William Streets in Waterloo on Tuesday at 2 p.m., with Rev. Rick Hawley officiating. Interment to follow in Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. Donations to the Memorial & Bequest Fund of First United Church or the K-W University Women Charitable Trust would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy by the family.
