Philip Ivan Wright Passes An Ayr native, Philip Ivan Wright of 213 St. George Street, Brantford, passed away Sunday, November 9th in St. Joseph's Hospital, Brantford. He was 60. Born in Ayr, he was a son of. the late Daniel Wright and Luciel Burton. The Wright family resided on Mitchell Street in the home now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bryans. Mr. Wright attended Ayr public and continuation schools. He then worked for a number of years at the Ayr News before enlisting in the R.C.A.F. during World War II. He served overseas and during that time was married to. Isobel Cowper in Dumfries, Scotland. Upon returning to Canada, Mr. Wright was employed for a short time by Barber Ellis paper company in Brantford. A great interest in photography gained while in Ayr, led to him taking over the photo department at Lough's Drug Store in Brantford. More recently he operated his own photography business. Mr. Wright was a member of St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Brantford, and the Royal Canadian Legion, Dunsdon Branch, Brantford. Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Ian of Burlington, Colin of RR 3, Princeton, and Alan of Kitchener; two daughters Mrs. Tim (Debbie) Kopacsi of Brantford and Elizabeth at home; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kilgour, Mrs. Thomas (Sue) Bryant and Mrs. Nel Nickerson, all of Brantford and Mrs. Hugh (Jean) Pitcher of Leamington; also three grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers Norman and Jack. Funeral service will be held at 2: 00 p.m. today (Wed.) at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home, Brantford. Interment in Ayr Cemetery.

Isabella (Isabel) Wright, formerly of Brantford passed away peacefully at the Willett Hospital, Paris, on Friday, March 15, 2002. She was in her 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Philip Wright (1975), an Ayr native, whom she married in Dumfries, Scotland, while he was serving overseas with the RCAF. Loving mother of Ian and his wife Chris (Waterloo), Colin and his wife Sandra (Princeton), Allan (Waterloo), Deborah and her husband Tim Kopacsi (Brantford), Liz and her husband Warren Yerex (Cambridge ); dear grandma of Cori, Shannon, Nathan, Philip, Sara, Adam and Galen; great-grandmother to Erin and Matthew; dear sister of Betty McKenzie (Scotland). Mrs. Wright was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Dunsdon Branch 461, Brantford, and a founding member of St. Stephen's Anglican Church. Rested at the Dennis Toll Funeral Home, Brantford, where service was held in the chapel on Tuesday. Interment Ayr Cemetery.

Death of Dan Wright

Well Known Resident of Ayr Passes Suddenly on Monday


Daniel Wright, well well known and highly esteemed resident of Ayr passed suddenly away on Monday at 1.30 p. m. He bed been ailing for 2 months but his demise came as a great shock to his many friends.

Mr. Wright was born in Aston Flamville, Leicester, England, 68 years ago and came to Canada with his family in 1910. After living in Lucan and Galt, the family removed to Ayr in 1913.

He was a bricklayer and mason by trade and was known as a capable and industrious workman. In religion he was a member of the Anglican Church.

Besides his sorrowing wife, whose maiden name was limy Burton, he is survived by the following children: Norman of Galt; Mrs. Charles Kilgour ( Ethel) , Galt ; John, Galt ; Mrs Laidlaw Nickerson (Nell), London Mrs. Thomas Bryant (Sue), Brantford, Jean, at home; Philip, R. C.A. F., Toronto. Also surviving are 3 sisters in England.. The funeral will take place from Christ Church this Wednesday afternoon.
