    Death of Mrs. Hodgson, Sr.

Died - In North Dumfries, on Saturday, Jan. 13th, 1923, at 8 a.m., Mary Jane Elder, relict of the late Thos. Hodgson, in her 72nd year.

Deceased was born in Oneida, Haldimand County, where she lived all her life until coming to Ayr about 14 years ago. She married in 1870, her husband predeceased her by a year all but two days. Mrs. Hodgson had been ill for some time, but had previously enjoyed good health. She was a member of the Methodist denomination and lived a Christian life, doing unto others as she would that others should do unto her. The interests of a large family and household duties claimed the major portion of her attention, but all good works had her sympathy and co-operation.

She is survived by six out of seven members of her family, all of whom were greatly attached to their mother. They are: John J., Ayr; Peter and Thomas, Winnipeg; Jos. Lethbridge; George, Regina; and Mrs. W. F. Clark, Greenfield. A sister, Mrs. E. H. Hicks, is also living.

The funeral took place on Monday from the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Wm. F. Clarke, Greenfield, to the Ayr cemetery. Rev. Alf Yeoman conducted the service. The pallbearers and minister were the same as those officiating at the funeral of deceased's husband, the former being Messrs. Adam Douglas, J. W. Hunt, Jas. King, W. A. Ramsay, Wm. Bain and R. G. Lindsay.
