Beloved son to Esther (nee Sherk) and the late Allen (1993). Loved brother to Scott (Lisa) and Greg. Cherished uncle to Daniel, Carter and Bailey. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Friends will be received at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, 183 Northumberland St., Ayr, on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Cremation to follow.     Allen Mitchell - Former Ayr resident, Allen Scott Mitchell, died peacefully at the Willett Hospital, Paris, on Tuesday, May 11, 1993. Mr. Mitchell was in his 56th year. Born in New Westminster, B.C. he was a son of the late George Henry Mitchell and Ellen Cowe Patterson. He is survived by his wife, Esther Mitchell of Ayr, sons, Scott and his wife, Lisa of Paris, Timothy of Toronto and Gregory of Ayr; grandson, Daniel; brothers, Gordon of Marietta, Georgia and Murray of North Vancouver, B.C. and by his sister, Christine Koverchuk of Delta, B.C. Mr. Mitchell was a longtime member of the Canadian Armed Forces (Reserve) and local Air Cadet Squadrons. Cremation has taken place. Interment Ayr Cemetery. A private memorial service was held at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home.

Also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Melvin and Mary Sherk, and brothers Ray "Tyke", Doug, Bill and David (infant).     Sherk, Melvin - Passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Thursday, Sept. 17, 1981, Melvin Sherk, of Golden Years Nursing Home, Cambridge, formerly of Kitchener and Ayr, in his 78th year. Beloved husband of the late Mary Elizabeth Brown, dear father of Margaret (Mrs. William Makins) of Bayfield, Elizabeth (Mrs. John Kostuik) of Toronto, Esther (Mrs. Allen Mitchell) of Ayr. Douglas, Raymond, William and James, all of Ayr, dear brother of Weston of RR 4, Cambridge, Walter of London, Ont. and Leon of Oregon, Mamie (Mrs. Wilfred McDonald) of Kitchener, Irene (Mrs. James Main) of Washington, Ont. and Mrs. Vernetta Wildfong of London, Ont. Sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Mr. Sherk was predeceased by one son. Resting at Coutts & Son Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrew St., Cambridge, where the family will receive friends today, from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home chapel on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 2: 30 p.m. Interment Ayr cemetery.

    Mrs. Melvin Sherk, 1061 Queen's Blvd., died today at St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illness. She was 66. The former Mary Elizabeth (Bessie) Brown, she was born in Oxford County, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Brown. She had lived in Kitchener one year. Most of her life she spent at RR 3, Bright. She was a member of Knox Untied Church, Ayr. She formerly taught school in North Dumfries and Blenheim Townships. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Kostuik of Willowdale, Mrs. Allen (Esther) Mitchell of RR 1, Ayr, and Mrs. William (Margaret) Makis of Ayr; four sons, Douglas, Raymond, William and James, all of Ayr; a brother, David Brown of RR 3, Bright, and 14 grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son and one sister. The body will be at Coutts and Son Funeral Home, Galt, after 7 p.m. Saturday where the funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. with Rev. D. E. Willis officiating. Burial will be in Ayr cemetery.
