    Notes:

    Mrs. Wallace Dance passed away Monday, January 29th at her residence, St. Luke's Place, Cambridge. The former Mildred Evelyn Hughes, she was born in Maberly, Ontario, a daughter of the late Samuel Hughes and Matilda McConnell. She moved to homestead in Saskatchewan with her parents in 1906. After teaching school in Saskatchewan for six years, she married Wallace E. Dance and in 1929 the couple returned to the Ayr area, farming on the 10th Concession of Blenheim. Mr. and Mrs. Dance retired to Kitchener in 1972. Since her husband's death in 1981, Mrs. Dance has made her home at St. Luke's Place. Surviving is a brother Elborn Hughes of Calgary. Lovingly remembered by her many relatives and friends. Resting at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd., Hespeler, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Luke's United Church, 1620 Franklin Blvd., Hespeler on Friday, February 2nd at 2 p.m. Interment Ayr Cemetery.

Wallace (son of James Dance and Janet Dodds Hall) was born 16 Dec 1897, Ayr, North Dumfries Twp., Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada; died 16 Apr 1981, Kitchener, Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada; was buried 18 Apr 1981, Ayr Cemetery, Ayr, Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada.     Death of War Veteran

    The death occurred in Westminster Hospital, London on Friday of Samuel Wellington Hughes, in his 77th year. The late Mr. Hughes, along with Mrs. Hughes, removed from Saskatoon last fall to reside with their daughter, Mrs. Wallace Dance, and Mr. Dance, 10th concession of Blenheim. He was taken suddenly ill on Wednesday and removed to Westminster Hospital.

    Mr. Hughes was a veteran of World War I, enlisting in the 63rd battalion, Edmonton, in 1915. He was born at Maberly, near Perth, and was a member of Knox United Church, Ayr.

    Besides his widow, he is survived by one son, Elborne, Edmonton, and a daughter, Mrs. Wallace Dance.

    The Funeral

    The funeral took place on Monday afternoon from the home of his son-in-law, Wallace Dance, to the Ayr Cemetery. Rev. W. D. Goodger, pastor of Knox United Church, was in charge of the services, and the pallbearers were: Walter Barrie, James Baxter, Richard Mitchell, James Dance, John Dance and Norman Dance.

    Mrs. Matilda Hughes Passes

    Mrs. Matilda Hughes, RR 3, Bright, died at the Willett Hospital, Paris, on Tuesday, February 22nd in her 94th year. The former Matilda McConnell, Mrs. Hughes was born at Maberly, Ontario. In 1907 she went west with her husband, homesteading near Glamis, Saskatchewan. From there they moved to Edmonton, later returning to Saskatchewan where the couple farmed for over 20 years at Rosetown. In 1947 they moved to Ontario, residing with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Dance. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Knox United Church, Ayr, and a life member of Knox U.C.W. Mrs. Hughes is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Wallace (Mildred) Dance, RR 3, Bright, and a son, Elborne Hughes, Victoria, B.C.; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Samuel in 1948. Funeral services were held at the William Kipp Funeral Home, Paris, on Friday, February 25th at 3:30 p.m. Rev. D. E. Willis, Knox United Church, Ayr, officiated. Interment was in Ayr Cemetery.
