Former Ayrite Died in Brantford

The death occurred at his home in Brantford on Saturday, following a lingering illness, of William Howard Smith, in his 75^th year.

The late Mr. Smith was well known in Ayr where he lived for a period of six or seven years preceding the first great war. While in this village, he managed the former McMillan chicken farm on the property now owned by Alex McLeod, Jr., and was also employed at the former electric light plant where the Ayr stepladder factory is now located.

He was married here 42 years ago to Jean Anderson, who survives him. There are no other survivors.

The funeral was held from Thorpe Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon, with interment in Ayr Cemetery.
