    Mortimer H. Smith

    PRESTON— Mortimer H. Smith, 71, of 508 Queen St., Preston, died at the South Waterloo Memorial Hospital, Galt, early today. Mr. Smith was in ill health for two years and confined to hospital for 10 days. Born in Kentville, N.S., he came to Preston in 1920 from Sackville, N.B. He was employed at Clare Brothers, Ltd. He was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church and at one time was chairman of the board of management. Mr. Smith was past president of the Preston-Hespeler Rotary Club, a member of golf and curling clubs and at one time was associated with VON work. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his wife, the former Nellie Ford Turner, two sons, David M. A. Smith of Toronto and Donald W. M. Smith of Illinois, two sisters and two brothers in Kentville and four grandchildren. His first wife, Elizabeth Ann Mackay, died in 1937. The body is at the H. K. Stager Funeral Home where the funeral will be conducted Thursday at 2: 30 p.m. Committal service will follow in Park Lawn Memorial Chapel.
