    AYRES, Annie Elizabeth (Thompson)

    Of Markham, at her residence on Saturday, December 2, 1995, in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late Henry William Ayres (1973) and dear mother of Henry William Ayres of Florida, Margaret Elizabeth Simons of California and Mary Jane Lamensa of Markham. Also survived by her sisters; Margaret Smith of Mitchell and Jane Rutherford of Toronto. Dear grandmother of Nancy, Chris, Gary, Debbie, Rob and Jean, Clementine, John and Carmen, she also has 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Predeceased by her brother, John Thompson and her grandson, Philip. Mrs. Ayres was born in Kendal, West Moreland, England and she arrived in Preston, Ontario in 1905. Mrs. Ayres was a member of St. John's Anglican Church in Cambridge (Preston) and she was a member of the Eastern Star-Preston Springs Chapter #208. Friends will be received at the BARTHEL FUNERAL HOME, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge on Tuesday, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. John's Anglican Church, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge on Wednesday, December 6, 1995, at 11: 30 a.m., Canon David Bowyer officiating. Interment, Preston Cemetery, Cambridge.

    MRS. JOHN W. THOMPSON

    PRETON, Sept. 13— Mrs, John William Thompson, well known Preston resident for the past 37 years, died at her residence on North Street, late last night in her 67th year. The former Mary Agnes Wharton. Mrs.Thompson had been ailing for the past six years, but had been critically ill only several hours. She came to Preston from Gray-hound, Kendel, England, 37 years ago. She was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, a member of the Womens Guild of the church, the local I.O.O.F. Chapter and the Quren Rebekah Lodge, Preston. Her husband, one son, Sapper J. W. Thompson of Sydney, NS. and three daughters, Mrs. Harry Ayres, Windsor, Mrs. K. W. Smith, at home and Mrs. F. C. Rutherford, Toronto, survive. Also surviving is a brother, John Wharton, of Shap, England and five grandchildren. The remains are resting at the residence, 646 North Street, from where the funeral will be held Saturday, with service in St. John's Anglican Church at 2.30 p.m. Interment will be in Preston Cemetery.
