    Mader, Orville H. - At his home, Fairview Mennonite Home, Cambridge (P), on Thursday, December 29, 1977, after a brief illness, Orville Harold Mader, formerly of Melrose Avenue, age 80 years. Mr. Mader was born in Breslau, a son of the late Menno Mader and the former Anna Geiger. A member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and formerly service manager at Orr Automobiles for many years. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Flossie Schiedel, March 30, 1966, and by a brother, Earl. Surviving are three sons, Harold of Breslau, Orville and Frank, both of Kitchener , and by five daughters, Elaine (Mrs. William Wolff) of New Hamburg, Norma (Mrs. John Dessler) and Frances (Mrs. Bruce Shields) both of Breslau, Ferne (Mrs. Wilfred McKenzie) of Waterloo and Shirley (Mrs. Donald Cressman) of Cambridge (P); two sisters, Pearl (Mrs. Arthur Lithgow) of Thedford and Daisy (Mrs. Fred Mitchell) of Stratford; 28 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Friends called at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, until noon on Saturday, when removal was made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, for funeral and committal service at 2: 30 pm; with Rev. L.E. Wentzlaff officiating. Interment in Cressman Mennonite Cemetery, Breslau.

    Notes:

    Mrs. Orville H. Mader, 70, of Kitchener, died Wednesday, Mar. 30, at K-W Hospital, following a short illness. The former Flossie May Schiedel, she was horn in Breslau and lived there until moving to Kitchener seven years ago. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the Women's Guild of the Church.

    Among the survivors are her husband; three sons, Orville Jr., and Frank, Kitchener; Harold of Breslau; five daughters, Mrs. William Wolff (Elaine), New Hamburg; Mrs. Wilfred (Ferne) McKenzie, of Kitchener; Mrs. John (Norma) Dessler, Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Cressman, Mrs. Bruce (Frances) Shields, all of Breslau; a brother, Floyd, Kitchener; 28 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers and a sister.
    Funeral services were held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church on Friday, with Rev. L. E. Wentzlaff officiating. Burial was in Cressman Mennonite Cemetery in Breslau.

    Mrs. Samantha Schiedel

    Taken to Toronto General Hospital two months ago, where she under-went two operations, Mrs. Samantha Schiedel of Breslau, passed away there on Jan, 30 in her 66th year. Mrs. Schiedel was the relict of the late Jacob M. Schiedel, who passed a was 15 years ago. She was born at Shantz Station, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Abram C. Shantz and attended the Breslau M.B.C. Mennonite Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Orville H. Mader, Breslau, two sons, Roy and Nelson, Breslau, and 19 grandchildren. Four brothers, Nelson and Irvine Shantz, Kitchener, Joseph and Abram, Breslau, and four sisters, Mrs. John Shiry, Kitchener, Mrs. Joel Gole, Richan, Ont., Mrs. Daniel Brox, Spruce Grove, Alta., and Mrs. Peter Martin, R.R. 3, Kitchener, also survive. The funeral was held Sunday from the home at 2 o'clock and thence to Cressman Mennonite Church followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

    Jacob Schiedel, "was born April 10th, 1834. On March 17th, 1857, he was married to Magdalena Miller who was born October 13th, 1833, and died April 22nd, 1872. On April 13th, 1873, he was again married to Magdalena Bechtel who was born October 21st, 1851. In 1882 they left the old "Schiedel Farm" and moved to Shantz Station where they resided until 1886 when they moved to Breslau where they still reside. His family consisted of thirteen children,(the eldest six were of first wife"

    Shantz
    .--Abraham C. Shantz died at this home in Breslau on April 25, 1922; aged 77 y. 11 m. 17 d. In 1866 he was united in marriage with Catharine Goetz, who survives. There are left to mourn with the wife and mother, 9 children, 32 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren. Brother Schantz united with the Mennonite Church in early life, in which faith he left this world to meet his Maker. He left many evidences that he met his Savior in peace.     SHANTZ. - CATHARINE GOETZ was born in France on April 20, 1846; died in Kitchener, Ont., Jan 1, 1933, after a lingering illness; aged 86 y. 8 m. 12 d. She came to Canada with her parents in 1851. On Feb. 26, 1866, she was united in marriage with Abram C. Shantz, who predeceased her 11 years. To this union were born 11 children, 2 sons (Ephraim and Isaac) having died in childhood. In early life she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined the Mennonite Church in which fellowship she remained until death. She leaves 4 sons (Joseph of Breslau, Irvin and Nelson of Kitchener, and Abram of Breslau Road), 5 daughters (Mrs. J. W. Schiedel of Breslau, Mrs. John Shiry of Kitchener, Mrs. Dan Brox of Spruce Grove, Alta., Mrs. Joel Gole, Dunrankin, Ont., Mrs. Peter Martin, Breslau Road), 1 brother (Frank Goetz, Brown City, Mich.), 35 grandchildren, and 40 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Jan. 5 from the home of her son, Irvin, to the Cressman Mennonite Church, Breslau, for services and burial in adjoining cemetery. Funeral service conducted by Bro.
