    Lantz, Harold Gordon - Following a courageous battle with cancer, Harold Lantz of New Hamburg passed away peacefully at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital Saturday, June 11, 2005, at the age of 82. Harold farmed in North Easthope Township before moving to New Hamburg. Beloved husband of Mildred (Hackbart) Lantz with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage. Dear father of Wayne of Kitchener, Murray and Dolena of Nova Scotia, Linda of Cambridge, Joyce and Mark Leis of RR 1 Elmira, Sharon and Dave Dietrich of RR 2 Petersburg, Calvin and Sarah of Toronto, Bruce and Wendy of RR 2 Petersburg. Harold loved with all his heart his 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and his special friend, the dog "Bubba". Sadly missed by his brothers and sisters, Loretta and John Horst of RR 1 New Hamburg, Elmer and Dorothy Lantz of Wellesley, Violet and Mervin Luckhardt of Gadshill, Shirley Bigam of Milverton, Doreen and Bill Rose of Stratford, Marion and Bob Luckhardt of RR 1 Milverton, Marjorie and Bruce Coulthard of Sebringville and sister-in-law, Ruth Lantz of RR 1 Stratford. Harold was predeceased by his parents, John and Florence (Wahl) Lantz; brother, Floyd Lantz and brother-in-law, Russel Bigam. Harold was a member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, North Easthope. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral service to celebrate Harold's life will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, North Easthope with Pastor Patricia Jackson officiating. Interment to follow at the church cemetery.

    LANTZ, Mildred Emma Passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Lanark Heights Long Term Care Residence, Kitchener. She was born on August 5, 1926 in Wellesley Township, ON. Mildred was the daughter of the late Edwin and Hilda (Duench) Hackbart. Beloved wife of the late Harold Lantz who predeceased her June 11, 2005. Mildred and Harold farmed for 33 years in North Easthope Township, Perth County where they raised seven children. After moving to New Hamburg in 1982, Mildred worked as a Red Cross Homemaker. She was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Easthope Township where she was a member of the ELW. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and baking. Loving mother of Wayne of Kitchener, Murray and Dolena of Nova Scotia, Linda of Cambridge, Joyce and Mark Leis of R.R. # 4 Elmira, Sharon Dietrich of Kitchener, Calvin and Sarah of Oakville, Bruce and Wendy of R.R. # 2 Petersburg. Mildred loved with all her heart her 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Art Hackbart, Florence Schmidt, Helen Berg, Clayton and Margaret Hackbart, Gladys Hackbart, Edward and Janet Hackbart, Ruby and Edward Thompson and Bernice Hackbart. The former Hilda Duench, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Duench and was born Sept. 5, 1893, in Wallenstein and lived in Waterloo for the past nine years. Mrs. Hackbart was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgeport, and the Ladies Aid of the Church. She was also predeceased by a brother and two sisters. Surviving are her husband, six sons, Frederick, RR (?) Breslau, Walter, Waterloo, Arthur, Clayton and Wilfred, all of Kitchener and Edward, RR 1, Bamberg; six daughters, Mrs. Vera Fischer and Gladys Hackbart, both of Waterloo, Mrs. Earl (Florence) Schmidt, St. Agatha, Mrs. Ralph (Helen) Berg, Crosshill, Mrs. Arnold (Mildred Lantz, New Hamburg, Mrs. Edward (Ruby) Thompson, Ariss; four brothers, Aaron, Waterloo, Charles and Andrew, both of Elmira and Norman of Kitchener; four sisters, Mrs. Emma Schneider, Hawkesville, Louisa, Elmira, Irene, Waterloo, and Laura, Petersburg and 41 grandchildren.     HESSON ROAD, Nov. 21, - The death occurred early today of Carl Hackbart, 86, at the home of his son, Nelson, on the Hesson road. He was born in Germany and came to Canada when he was 18. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Heidelberg. His wife, Margaret Schmidt, predeceased him in 1946.

    One sister, Ida of Heidelberg; three sons, Edwin, R.R. 1 Bamberg, Oscar of Heidelberg and Nelson on the Hesson road; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Olga) Schmidt, Heidelberg and Mrs. Emil (Clara) Schneider, Bamberg, and 32 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren survive.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the home of his son, Nelson and at 3:00 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Heidelberg. Rev. Roy M. Grosz will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at his son Nelson's home after 2 p.m. tomorrow.

    WELLESLEY, Nov. 14. - Mrs. Carl Hackbart of Hessen Rd., Wellesley Township, passed away at her home yesterday following an illness of five months.

    Born at Berlet's Corners in 1863, she was 83 years of age. The deceased was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Heidelberg. She was a daughter of the late John R. Schmitt and the former Maria Knechtel. She was married in North Easthope in 1890 to Carl Hackbart, who survives.

    Mrs. Hackbart is also survived by three sons, Edwin and Nelson of Hessen Rd., and Oscar of Heidelberg; two daughters, Olga (Mrs. Lorne Schmidt) of Heidelberg, and Clara (Mrs. Emil Schneider) of Bamberg. There are 32 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Three sons and a daughter predeceased her. Also surviving are two brothers. John Schmitt of Kitchener and Jacob Schmitt of Swift Current, Sask., and three sisters. Mrs. John Koehler of Wilmot Township, Mrs. Emilia Ziegler of Kitchener, and Mrs. Saloma Heimpel of Waterloo.

    A service will be held from the late residence Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, followed by a servics at St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Heidelberg at 2:45 p.m. Burial will be at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Heidelberg. Rev. Henry Nuhn will officiate. The remains are resting at the late residence..

    LINWOOD, Oct. 16 - Ill ten weeks, Stephen Duench, who observed his 70th birthday only 17 days ago, passed away at his home here yesterday. He was born at Hesson Road and was married in 1891 to Marie Schlueter. Deceased was widely known in this locality, having farmed here for 27 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

    Surviving are his widow, six daughters, Emma, Mrs. August Schneider, Hawkesville, Hilda, Mrs. Edwin Hackburt, Hesson Road, Clara, Mrs. Bruno Giese, Linwood, Miss Louise at home, Miss Irene of St. Jacobs, Miss Laura in Petersburg, and five sons, Aaron of New Dundee, Charles and Andrew at home, Norman in Heidelberg, Albert of New Dundee. Two daughters predeceased him. Twenty-five grandchildren and two brothers, Louis Duench, Hesson Road, and George of Erbsville, also survive.

    The funeral will be held Friday afternoon with a short service at the home at 1: 30 o'clock and thence to St. Pater's Church here for services at 2 pm. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. W. Shcultz will officiate.
