Knechtel, Jane Elizabeth (Jean), August 10, 1929 - October 21, 2006 - It is with heartfelt sadness that Jean's family announces her passing. She died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Cherished wife of 55 years to John (Jake) Knechtel. Devoted Mom to Steve and Mary Jane, David and Louise, Kathy and Steve, and Laurie and George Gillingham. Caring Gramma of Amy and Peter, Lindsay and Dale, Sarah, Ali, and Laura, all of Kitchener. Survived by brothers, Jack (Shirley) Reynolds of Guelph, Brian (Bonnie) Reynolds of Fergus and sister Mary Lou (Don) Brown of Etobicoke. Brothers-in-law, Gerry (Marlene) Knechtel of Oregon and Peter Knechtel of Kitchener. Also many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her parents, Bert and Cassie Reynolds of Guelph. She was a long time member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Jean was dedicated to raising her children and caring for her family. She later became involved with the community. She was a longtime volunteer at the Sunnyside Day Care Program and bibles for Missions Thrift Store. She will be remembered for her great sense of humour and love of life. Friends are invited to share their memories of Jean with her family on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home & Chapel, 51 Benton at Church Street, Kitchener (519-742-4481). A funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. Reception to follow in the heritage room of the Funeral Home. Interment St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
