    JOHN GEIGER.

Here is a young citizen deserving of encouragement. He was born near Hamburg in 1872, but was left an orphan when about six years of age. His father mother, sister and brother died within six months, two of them being buried in one day, diphtheria and typhoid fever having entered the home of the unfortunate family. Mr. Geiger attended school in the village and commenced to earn a livelihood at an early age, and previous to taking charge of the barber shop he now conducts he was employed a year by D. & H. Becker. He opened the barber shop in May of this year and has been meeting with good encouragement ever since. He has a pool room in connection. Being of an obliging and courteous disposition and having an inclination to attend strictly to business, there is no reason why he should not succeed in building up a lucrative patronage. Mr. Morbert Leyes an accomplished tonsorialist is in charge. Mr. Leyes learned his trade at Walkerton. He is a first class artist in his line and will… tender good service for as employer and give satisfaction to the patrons.

    Notes:

His fellow-citizens of St. Jacobs have much sympathy with Mr John Geiger, who has been called upon to mourn the death of his wife who passed away at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Wilhelm, near Philipsburg on the evening of the 14th November. The deceased had been in poor health for some time and a few weeks ago went to stay at the home of her parents for a time, not thinking that in place of returning to her earthly home at St. Jacobs she would be called to her heavenly home, She leaves six small children to the care of her husband, whose loss is indeed great. Her remains were buried in Schmidt's cemetery, Erbs Road, Wilmot, in presence of a large concourse of friends.
