    GONE TO HER LONG REST.

    Caroline Brown, beloved wife of Mr. Henry Otterbein, passed away at the home in this village, Sunday, September 9th, 1923, at the age of 68 years, 3 mos. and 1 day. Funeral took place Wednesday afternoon, services being held in the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Chas. W. Gardner, and interment in the Strong cemetery, Northeast Sheridan. Obituary next week.

    A-1-167 Jacob Braun Letters of Administration by Wilhelmina Braun of the Township of Woolwich, widow of Jacob Braun, late of the Township of Woolwich, Yeoman, deceased, of the goods, chattels rights and credits which were of the aforesaid Jacob Braun, deceased, with Will annexed, and has made proof before the Judge of this Honorable court, that the said Jacob Braun is dead, having died on or about the First day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand, eight hundred and fifty eight, after first having made his Last Will and Testament, bearing date the 11th day of March 1858, such Will being wanting in the appointment of an Executor or Executors. And whereas the said deceased at the time of his death was possessed of diverse goods, chattels, rights and credits within the said County, the administration whereof belongeth to this court and the above named petitioner, she being the widow of the said deceased and living within this Province and having furnished unto us a bond with security for the due performance of her duty, as such Adminstratrix. Now we do grant unto you, the said Wilhelmina Braun, full power to administer to the estate of the aforesaid Jacob Braun deceased, in accordance with his will annexed and also according to law and faithfully to demand recover and receive the debts which unto the said deceased whilst living and at the time of his death did belong, and to pay the just debts which the said deceased did owe, so far as his goods, chattels and credits will contend and the law shall bind you, hereby requiring you, the said Wilhelmina Braun to establish a just and true inventory of all and singular the personal estate of the said deceased into the Registry of this Court, when you shall be thereunto lawfully required..[The names of Lorenz Steffler and Michl.     [Will of Jacob Braun, translated from the original German] :

    …I, Jacob Braun, Farmer in the Township of Woolwich…First, it is my Will that six weeks after my death a public sale of the cattle, excepting a brown Mare, two cows in the selection, further 6 sheep and 3 hogs (which is the property of my wife) - shall take place, then shall the entire agricultural implements - such as wheat, peas, oats and hay be sold, excepting 4 tons of hay, fifty bushels of wheat, one hundred and fifty bushels of oats and twenty bushels of peas, which is the property of my wife. Further, I direct that the whole household furniture shall be the property of my wife. Then my Will is that out of the proceeds of the effects sold, all at present existing debts shall be paid, and the balance of the money my wife shall receive as her property. Further it is my Will that my wife shall from this day hence, for Twelve years, have the sole management of my two farms, on Lot 49 and Lot 48 : And then it is my will…my son Jacob Braun will have attained his twenty first year - that he shall receive the easterly side of Lot 49 consisting of one hundred and thirty acres of land, more or less, together with the buildings. However, I direct that my wife shall during her lifetime, retain her residence in this new house, namely the two easterly situated rooms, beside the kitchen, situated in the first story. My son Jacob Braun receives the aforesaid piece of land for the round sum of six thousand dollars, but goes in for a child's portion; he is then bound to pay the fourteenth part of said purchase sum annually, to his sisters or legitimate heirs, without interest, but should installments be due, then he must upon being requested, pay the legal interest due. I will that after the expiration of said twelve years. My wife shall annually receive of lot 48, also of lot 49, of each plan one hundred dollars, and the heirs are bound to give her this annually during her lifetime, without any deduction whatever - further, I direct that whereas my three married daughters, Elisabeth, Catharine and Phillipina Braun, at their marriage each receive forty dollars as their portion:- likewise the heir[?] yet under age, namely, Jacob, Eva and Caroline Braun, on becoming of age, each, in the first place to receive forty dollars out of my estate, without lessening their portion of inheritance. Further, I direct that my son Jacob Braun, on becoming of age shall receive one hundred dollars in remembrance of his deceased brother Frederick Braun.
