    Notes:

    MCDERMOTT, Bernadette Quietly, slipped away, to be with her Lord, on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in her 88th year.

    Predeceased by her first husband, Harry Draho; second husband, Harold McDermott; brother, Bernard McGrath and parents Charles McGrath and Mary McTearnen. Survived by brothers, Joe McGrath (Peg), Charles McGrath, all of Cambridge and James McGrath of Southampton. Bernadette will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, in-laws and her little friend, Dempsey.
    Bernadette was a retired employee of Savage Shoes and a lifelong resident of Preston.

    The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Clement's RC Church, 745 Duke Street, Cambridge, on Monday, September 8, 2003 at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow. Ro- sary will be recited at the funeral home on Sunday at 8:30 p.m.

    As expressions of sympathy, do- nations to St. Clement's RC Church Building Fund or the Cambridge Humane Society would be gratefully appreciated by the family.

    Special thanks to Jayne for taking care of our Aunt "B", Golden Years Nursing Home Staff and the nurses on the 5th Floor of Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

    Charles McGrath

    A prominent citizen was lost to Preston, by the death of Mr. Charles McGrath, at his home on Hespeler street, Saturday evening due to pnuemonia. Word of his death came as a shock to his many friends, for his fatal illness had been of only five days duration. Mr. McGrath was born in Darween, Lancashire, England, Nov. 16, 1886 to Philip and Mary (Meehan) McGrath. In 1910 he came to Canada and in 1915 married Miss Minnie McTearney. For a number of years he has been employed as caretaker in St. Clement's Roman Catholic church and school. Deceased was a well known sportsman, being particularly fond of bowling, about eight years ago he was a member of the Preston football team, at which he played fullback. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus. There are surviving, his widow and five children, Bernadette, 12, Charles, 9, James, 7, Bernard and Joseph, 2, two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Kelly, of Preston and Mrs. A. Peters, of Island Falls, also two brothers, Patrick of Preston and James of Darween, England. The funeral, which will be public, is to be held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock.

    At McMaster University Medical Centre, Hamilton, on Wednesday, August 11, 1976, in her 84th year, Mary McTearnen, formerly of 529 Duke St., Preston. Beloved wife of the late Charles McGrath: dear mother of Charles of Burlington, James of Kitchener, Bernard of Brussels, Joseph and Bernadette (Mrs. Harry Draho), both of Cambridge (Preston), loving sister of Mrs. Marie Peacock of Tillsonburg and Mrs. Loretta Osborn of Preston. Also survived by seven grandchildren. Resting at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge (Preston), until Saturday morning, August 14, then to St. Clement's Church for funeral mass, at 11 a.m. Interment in St. Clement's cemetery.

    Mary (Minnie) McGrath, 83, died Wednesday at McMaster University Medical Centre, Hamilton.

    The former Mary McTarnen, formerly of 529 Duke St., Cam- bridge, was predeceased by her husband Charles.

    She is survived by four sons, Charles of Burlington, James of Kitchener, Bernard of Brussels and Joseph of Cambridge and by one daughter Bernadette (Mrs. Harry Draho) of Cambridge.

    Two sisters also survive, Mrs. Marie Peacock of Tillsonburg and Mrs. Loretta Osborn of Cam- bridge. Seven grandchildren also survive.
    She was predeceased by two brothers, Hugh of Cambridge and Ed of Detroit and by one sister, Mrs. Clara McLellan of Toronto.

    Mrs. McGrath was born in Hespeler and lived in this area all her life. She was a member of St. Clements Roman Catholic Church.
    Friends will be received at Barthel-Stager funeral home, 566 Queenston Rd., until Satur- day, then to St. Clements church for mass at II a.m. Interment in St. Clements cemetery. Parish rosary

    Mrs. Michael McTearnen

    PRESTON, Feb. 15—One of Preston's well-known citizens, Mrs. Michael McTearnen, 83, died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, early today following several weeks illness. Mrs. McTearnen lived in Preston most of her life, coming here from Erie, Pa., where she was born nearly 84 years ago. Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Gillies, she married Michael McTearnen Aug. 19, 1891 and would this year have celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary. A member of St. Clement's R.C. Church, she was active in many of the organizations within the church through the years. Surviving are her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Charles (Minnie) McGrath, and Mrs. Roy (Loretta) Osborne, Preston; Mrs. A. (Clara) McLellan, Toronto and Mrs. Harold (Marie) Peacock, Tillsonburg; two sons, Edward of Detroit, and Hugh L., Preston; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Yeager and Mrs. William Evers, of Buffalo, N.Y.; one brother, John Gillies, Preston, 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The body is resting at the residence, 367 Hespeler St. The funeral will take place Saturday with requiem high mass at St. Clement's R.C. Church at 9 a.m. Interment will be in the R.C. Cemetery.
