    DURNFORD, Ruth Vida

    Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Wellington Hospice on December 31, 2011, in her 76 year. Loving wife of 50 years to Gilbert. Cherished mom to Ken (Tina) Durnford and Cheryl Durnford. Forever missed Nan to Trisha (Bill) Van Arragon, Ashley (Wes) Durnford and Anthony (Megan) Moore. Dearly loved Nan to three Great-grandchildren, Joshua, Cameron and Jacob. Ruth will always be remembered by sister, Catherine Lazure and brothers Victor Atkins and Paul Atkins. Predeceased by siblings, Leonard Atkins and Marion Fitzgerald. Ruth enjoyed playing euchre and loved spending time with her family. Family and friends will be received for visitation on Tuesday, January 3rd from 7-9 p.m. and again on Wednesday, January 4th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at COUTTS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 5th at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, 94 ELGIN ST S., Cambridge, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Parklawn Cemetery.

    Wilfred L. Atkins

    PRESTON, Wil fred L. Atkins, 618 Queen St. died Monday at South Waterloo Hospital. He was 68. Born at Yarmouth, N.S., he came to Preston in 1956. He was caretaker at local municipal buildings for 11 years until retiring. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He was predeceased by one brother. Surviving are his wife, the former Ann Muise; three sons, Leonard of Kitchener, Victor and Paul, both of Preston; three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Catherine) Lamm of Georgetown; Mrs. Lewis (Marian) Fitzgerald and Mrs. Gilbert (Ruth) Durnford, both of Preston; one brother, Lockwood in Nova Scotia; one sister, Mrs. Vida Muise in Massachusetts and 10 grandchildren. The body is at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home where a service will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Preston Park Lawn cemetery.

Beloved wife of the late Wilfred Atkins , dear mother of Leonard of Kitchener, Victor and Paul of Cambridge, Mrs. Catherine Lazure of Georgetown, Marion (Mrs. Louis Fitzgerald) and Ruth (Mrs. Gilbert Duniford), both of Cambridge; dear sister of Herman of Toronto, John of Nova Scotia and Rose Walker of Nova Scotia; also survived by 10 grandchildren. Mrs. Atkins was born in Yarmouth, N.S., came to Cambridge (Preston), 18 years ago. Resting at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, Queenston Rd., Cambridge (Preston). Funeral service Saturday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. Interment following in Parklawn cemetery.
