    Paul M. Martin

    Paul M. Martin, R.R. No. 3, Waterloo, who has been in ill health for the past four years, died at his home early today. Mr. Martin was born near St. Jacobs and was in his 71st year. He resided on the present farm for about 46 years.

    Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. W. Martin, Elmira, and Mrs. M. Bauman, Waterloo township, five sons, Menno, Moose Jaw, Sask., Elum, Strasburg, Absolum, Waterloo, Alvin, Waterloo township and Paul at home. Two brothers, five sisters and 21 grandchildren also survive.

    Mrs. Lydiann Martin, 93, of St. Jacobs, died, Thursday, June 4, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Milton Bauman, RR 3, Waterloo, after a lengthy illness.

    Born in Waterloo township, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Menno Shantz. Mrs. Martin was the last surviving member of her family.

    Her husband, the late Paul M. Martin, died in 1937.

    Surviving are four sons, Elam of Kitchener, Absalom of Waterloo and Alvin and Paul of RR 3, Waterloo; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Martin, RR 1, Elmira, and Mrs Milton (Sussanna) Bauman, RR 3, Waterloo; 26 grand-children and 50 great-grandchildren. Two sons and one daughter predeceased her.

    The body rested at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, until Saturday at 4 p.m. when removal was made to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Milton Bauman, for the service Sunday at 1:30 p.m. A public service followed at Martin's Mennonite meeting house. Burial was the adjoining cemetery.

    Henry B. Martin of Woolwich Township died Dec. 2 at the Elmira Private Hospital. He was 90. He was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac B. Martin of Elmira. Surviving are one son, Abner B. Martin of RR 2, West Montrose; one daughter, Mrs. Angus (Adeline) Weber of RR 2, Waterloo; one sister, Mrs. Henry Good, Goshen Ind., seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Martin was predeceased by his wife, the former Lovina Bauman; one daughter, Marion; one sister and five brothers. The funeral was held Tuesday at the Dreisinger Funeral Chapel. Service followed at Martin's Meeting House. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery.

    Dies from Brain Hemorrhage Sustained at Daughter's Home Near Heidelberg; was in 63rd year


    Conestogo and the surrounding district were shocked on Friday last with the receipt of news of the death of Mrs. David Lichty of near Conestogo, who died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. Schneider, on Thursday afternoon.

    The late Mrs. Lichty who was in her 63rd year had gone to her daughter's home near Heidelberg with a view to spending a week there. About mid-afternoon Mrs. Lichty complained of feeling faint. Shortly afterward she sustained a brain hemorrage which resulted in her death. Mrs. Lichty, nee Marian Peppler, was born on the Peppler homestead, east of Elmira in 1867. She married David C. Lichty. Following her marriage, she resided on the Lichty homestead, northwest of Winterbourne, moving later to her home near Conestogo.

    Her husband and two sons, Irwin and Gordon at home, and two daughters, Edna, Mrs. Herbert Schneider, Heidelberg and Clara, Mrs. George Dreisinger, survive. Two sisters, Mrs. George Miller, West Montrose and Mrs. Irvin Beisel, Elmira, together with several grandchildren also survive.

    The funeral was held Sunday afternoon with services at the home at 1: 30 o'clock, thence to St. James's Lutheran Church, Elmira. Rev. Mr. Kalbfleisch officiating. Interment was made in Elmira cemetery [St. James Lutheran]. The pall-bearers were: Messrs. Orrie Hollinger, J. Conrad, Ed Geisel, Gordon Yundt, Cecil Heipel and Clayton Miller. Owing to the stormy weather and the condition of the highway many friends and relatives from Kitchener and Waterloo were unable to be present to pay their last respects to the deceased lady, the road being closed over the weekend.

    Charles Heibein, 200 Erb St. West, Waterloo, died Thursday at the K-W Hospital after an illness of five weeks. He was 79. Born in West Montrose, he married the former Annie Westfall in 1895. Mrs. Heibein died in 1933. He was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical E.U.B. Church, Waterloo.

    Surviving are three sons, Edgar, Watrous, Sask., and Howard and Garfield, both of Kitchener; three daughters, Mrs. Harry (Edna) Lenhard and Mrs. Wilfred (Elvina) Koch, both of Waterloo, and Mrs. Gordon (Gertrude) Lichty of Conestogo; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. William Reichert, Waterloo.

    The body is at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, Waterloo, where the funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. Rev. G. F. Barthel of Emmanuel Evangelical U. B. Church will officiate and interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo.

    MRS. CHARLES HEIBEIN

    The death of Mrs. Charles Heibein occurred Saturday night at her home, 54 Euclid Avenue, after an extended illness.

    Mrs. Heibein was born at West Montrose 63 years ago and came to Waterloo about 20 years ago.

    She was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical Church.

    She is survived by her husband and three sons and three daughters. The children are: Edgar Heibein, Waterloo; Garfield and Howard at home; Mrs. H. Lenhard and Mrs. W. Koch, both of Waterloo and Mrs. G. Lichty, Conestogo.

    There are 11 grandchildren.

    She is survived by two brothers and one sister, William Westfall, St. Jacobs; John Westfall, Winterbourne; Mrs. S. Watson, Toronto.

    The funeral will be held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the residence with services at Emmanuel Evangelical Church at 2:30 o'clock.

    Interment will be made at Mount Hope cemetery.

    Rev. H.A. Kellerman will conduct the services.
