    SCHENK, Menno G. - At St. Mary's Hospital, on Tuesday, July 17, 1973, after a brief illness, Menno George Schenk, of 519 Stirling Ave. S., age 79 years, born in Normanby Township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Schenk. Mr. Schenk had been a farmer in Normanby Township for many years, he came to Kitchener 16 years ago, latterly had been employed at the Hallman Lumber Co. in New Dundee, a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church; husband of Laura Weber; father of Gladys (Mrs. Thomas Buckle), Islington; Joyce (Mrs. Edward Wiseman), Mildmay; Brenda of Kitchener, Lloyd, Route 3, Ayton; Laverne, Hespeler and Larry of Tavistock; brother of Sylina (Mrs. Wilfred Peter), Durham, Alvin, Wesley and Harold, all of Ayton; predeceased by his first wife the former Eleanor Werner in 1929, by a brother Elgin and a daughter in infancy. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechel Funeral Home, 621 King St. West Kitchener, until noon on Thursday, when removal will be made to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church for the service at 3 p.m. Interment Memory Gardens.

    SCHENK, Laura Marie - Formerly of Kitchener, passed away peacefully, at Durham Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family, on Friday, Oct. 5, 2001. She was 92. Laura was born in Carrick township, daughter of the late Henry and Edith (Wolfrum) Weber. She was a resident of Kitchener for many years where she was active with the ELW of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church and the Quilters Group. Survived by her children, Joyce (Edward) Wiseman of Hanover, Laverne (Joyce) Schenk of Cambridge, Larry (Margaret) Schenck of Kitchener, Brenda Hay of Cambridge; step-daughter, Gladys Buckle of Hanover; loving grandmother of 17 grandchildren and dear great-grandma of 23 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brothers, George (Emma) Weber of Mildmay, Aaron (Ruth) Weber of Neustadt; sister, Doretta (George) Muller of Kitchener; brothers-in-law; Alex Letson of Elmira, Harold (Shirley) Schenk of Ayton. Predeceased by her husband, Menno Schenk; step-son, Lloyd Schenk and his wife Shirley; step-son-in-law, Tom Buckle; sisters, Amelia Letson, Alvina (Conrad) Weber, Emma (Elmer) Russwurm and a brother, Charles (Edna) Weber. Visitation at MIghton Funeral Home, Hanover, today (Saturday) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001 at 2 p.m. at St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev. Annette Smith officiating. Interment in Memory Gardens Breslau.
