Harry Balak - Harry Balak, 532 Duke St. W., died Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital following a heart attack. He was 76. Mr. Balak was born in Austria and came to Canada 57 years ago and to Kitchener 49 years ago. He worked as a maintenance man, retiring two years ago. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Annie Szwuluk. Surviving are his second wife, the former Pearl Komar; one son, Peter, Waterloo; three daughters, Mrs. John (Mary) Tilliger, Hamilton, Mrs. Kenneth (Nettie) Porter, Galt, and Mrs. William (Nell) Plomske, Kitchener; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The body is at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home where funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 pm. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Harry Ballak, 70, of 532 Duke St. W., died Friday at K-W Hospital after a lengthy illness. The former Anna Szwaluk[?], she was born in Austria Nov. 6, 1894[?], and had resided in Kitchener for the past 44 years. She is survived by her husband, Harry Ballak, whom she married Nov. 24, 1914, in Winnipeg; a son, Peter of Waterloo; three daughters, Mrs. John (Mary) Tillger of Hamilton, Mrs. Kenneth (Nettie) Porter of Galt and Mrs. William (Nell) Plomske of Kitchener; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons in infancy. The body will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home after noon Sunday. The service will be conducted at the funeral home at 3: 30 p.m. Monday by Rev. J.H. Getz, minister of Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
