Died at Lindsay Pte. Albert Huber; Native of City

The life of a young Canadian, who has been serving the Empire and who was a native of this city. has been cut short by the death of Private Albert Huber, who died at the Ross Hospital, Lindsay, on Tuesday night after a five day's illness. The cause of death was auremia and abscesses of the brain.

Pte. Huber enlisted with the 252nd Battalion on Jan. 30th of this year and was well spoken of by the commanding officers. He did excellent work in recruiting during his short time with the 252nd and though his career as a soldier came to a sudden climax he showed a disposition to take his part in the defence of the Empire and to do it manfully.

The deceased was a brother of Mr. Emil Huber and Mrs. Leo Kempal, 10 DeKay Street, both of this city. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Huber, Sr., formerly of this city, are resident in Wilkesbarre. Pa.

Six sisters and three brothers also survive.

Mr. Emil Huber went to Lindsay yesterday and has brought the remains to the home of his sister. 10 DeKay Street. The funeral will held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Mary's R. C. Church after which interment will follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery.

The pallbearers were members of the 256th. Following the bier and mourners into the edifice as they filed through the two rows of soldiers with rifles were the bandsmen, soldiers, Mayor Gress, members of the City Council, citizens and many friends. Sergt. Benninger officiated in the military honors.

The services were conducted by Rev. Father Fischer, who in his remarks referred to the good example set by the deceased soldier in the cause of his country and drew a parallel between the good fight for this cause and the necessary combat against the evil.

After the servies at the church the cortege headed by the band with muffled drums slowly proceeded to Mount Hope Cemetery where after the religious ritual, the regular salute was fired and the last post sounded.
