    BABCOCK, Roland R - Loving husband of Audrey (Mitchell) for 64 years, longtime resident of Galt, passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, September 26, 2007. Loving father of Jim (Louise) Babcock, Karen (Cam) Nelson, Cindy (Frank) LeBlanc and Joan (Richard) Boesveld. Greatly missed by his grand-children, Shane (Debbie) Babcock, Keiryn Babcock, Graham and Stuart Bragg, Francis and Nicole LeBlanc, Sarah, Steven, Andrea and Michael Boesveld. Great-grampa to Lewis, Thomas and Emily Babcock. The fourth of ten children, Rod is survived by Howard, May, Bernice, Margaret, Harold, Victor; predeceased by Edwin, Walter and Bert. Born in Vegreville, Alberta in April 1922, Rod joined the Navy in November 1941 and was assigned to training in Galt in March 1942 where he met Audrey. Upon completion of his training as an Engine Room Artificer, he was seconded to the British Navy on the HMS Ascension where he loyally served our country throughout the Second World War. A longtime employee of Angelstone and Canadian General Tower, Rod retired in 1985. Rod was a faithful member of Trinity Anglican Church and also attended mass at St. Clements with his family. Friends will be received at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge on Sunday, September 30, 2007, 2-4 p m. A memorial service to celebrate Roland's life will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, Blair Road, Cambridge, on Monday, October 1, 2007, at 1: 30 p.m. Interment will follow at Mount View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

    Mrs. Johann Mitchell

    GALT— Mrs. Johann (Josie) Mitchell, 195 Waterloo St., N., Galt, died Sunday at South Waterloo Hospital. She was 78. Mrs. Mitchell was the former Marie Johann Schuhmacher and was born in Formosa, Ont. She had resided in Preston before moving to Galt 30 years ago. She was a member of St. Patrick's RC Church. She was predeceased by her husband, James A. Mitchell in 1936, and by three brothers and three sisters. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Roland (Audrey) Babcock and Mrs. Edward (Isabelle) Bonham, both of Galt, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The body will be at the Coutt's and Son Funeral Home from 7 p.m. today until Wednesday morning when removal will be made to the church for requiem mass at 9 a.m: Interment will be in St. Clement's RC cemetery, Preston. The parish rosary will be recited at the funeral home Tuesday at 8 p.m.
