    BIRSS, Thomas Kenneth BASc, PEng - At Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, in his 83rd year. Born in Galt, he was the beloved husband of the late Dorothea (Dodie) nee Dilly from 1946 to 1983 and in recent years to Maxine Nelson from 1986. Dear father of Tom, Ken, Alison, Nora Detlor and Bill and grand-father to 14 grandchildren. His extended family included Maxine's children, namely John, Virginia Pearce and Meredith Harron and he was step-father to six more grandchildren. His brother, Bill Birss predeceased him in 1998. Ken was a retired employee of Sheldon Engineering Ltd., having served 41 years from 1945-1986 in sales offices in Galt, London, Toronto, Montreal and finally in head office Cambridge as Company President and CEO. Ken was a long term member of many organizations, First United Church, the Galt Country Club (curling and golf), the Probus Club (inaugural member and archivist), the Cambridge Memorial. Hospital Board, the Association of Professional Engineers of both Ontario and-Quebec and the Grand Valley Group of Engineers. He was an honorary life member of two organizations namely, the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers as well as the Canadian Professional Sales Association. He also served for several years on the Archives Board of the City of Cambridge. A memorial service will be conducted at First United Church, Wellington St., Cambridge on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003 at 2 p.m., Rev. Robert Merritt officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Coutts Funeral Home, Cambridge, 621-1650 (www.funeralscanada.com) As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Kenneth Birss; beloved mother of Alison (Mrs. Peter Rollit) of Montreal, Nora (Mrs. Drew Detlor) of Cambridge, Thomas of New Dundee, Kenneth of Banff, Alta. and William of Cambridge. Beloved grandmother of Andrew Birss, Rhiannon and Bronson Rollit; dear sister of Catherine (Mrs. George Ogilvie) and Mrs. Marion McNamara, both of Cambridge, Mary (Mrs. Ian McColm) of Ayr, John T. Dilly of Milverton and William Dilly of Ayr.     PRESTON - William Bain Dilly, well-known Galt and Preston resident, died in hospital at London, Ont. today after an illness of eight months. He was 64 and had lived in this district since 1911. he also lived seven years in Georgetown. Born in Scotland he came to Canada in 1911, making his home in Galt. Three years ago, following the death of his wife, Mary MacDonald Gardner, he lived in Preston. A mechanical engineer, he was associated with Butler Metal Products here. He was a member of First United Church, Galt. Surviving are three sons, John and William Dilly, Jr., of Toronto and Gilbert Dilly of Preston; four daughters, Mrs. George (Catherine) Ogilvie of Montreal; Mrs. C.J. (Marion) MacNamara, Georgetown; Mrs. T.K. (Dorothea) Bires of London, and Mrs. Ion (Mary) McColm of Toronto; a brother Robert, of Galt; three sisters, Mrs. Albert Newton of Windsor, Mrs. Harold Steele and Mrs. Bert Fowell of St. Catharines, and 10 grandchildren . The body is at the T. Little and Son Funeral Home, Galt, pending funeral arrangements
