Passed away, on Sunday, Aug. 8, 1993, at Golden Years Nursing Home, Cambridge, John Werstine, a resident of Golden Years and formerly of Second Avenue, Cambridge, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Gormican) Werstine and dear father of Rita and her husband Murray Freiburger of Cambridge and Dr. Paul Werstine and his wife Virginia of London, Ont. Dear brother of Rose Arnold of Parkhill and beloved grandfather of five grandchildren, Robert and Katherine Werstine of London and Mark, Maureen and Martha Freiburger of Cambridge. He was predeceased by his sister, Frances in 1944. John was a former trustee of the Galt RC Separate School Board, a member of St. Gregory's Parish serving on the building committee and he also served as head of the ushers. A veteran of the Second World War, he served with the Lorne Scots Regiment and the Service Corps. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2184 serving for 35 years as Financial Secretary. He retired from Canadian General Tower Ltd. in 1973, after 32 years of service. Resting at the Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St., Cambridge, where the family will receive friends today (Monday), from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory's RC Church, St Andrews Street, Cambridge, on Wednesday, at 10: 30 a.m. Interment Mount View Cemetery.
