An Old Resident Passes Peace fully Away.

Wednesday afternoon, there passed away at the ripe age of eighty-five years, one of the oldest residents of Waterloo county. She was Hannah Smith, relict of the late Thos. Stewart, who died about four years ago. Deceased lady was born at Sterling, Scotland and in the year 1829, in company with her husband, came to Canada, settling in the neighborhood of Galt, where she has ever since resided. For many years Mr. and Mrs. Stewart resided on the farm in South Dumfries, where their son Charles now lives. After farming for many years, Mr. and Mrs, Stewart, removed to Glenmorris. At the death of her husband, the deceased lady came to Galt and has since resided with her daughter, Mrs. Bawtinheimer, wife of Mr. L. Bawtinheimer. Here it was that she passed peacefully away, from the infirmities of old age. Deceased lady was a faithful and life long member of the Gle morris Presbyterian church. The children left to mourn the loss of a kind mother are: Mrs. Andrew Scott Mrs. A. Buchanan and Mrs. L. Bawtinheimer, Galt; Mrs. Robt. Grant, Brockville, and Mrs. Jas. Dickie, Hespeler. The sons are, Charles of South Dumfries, William of Paris and John, who has been in Australia, for the past three years.
