    John Schroder, "The family by this name are all descendants of John Schroder, a native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where he was born in 1802. About the year 1836 he emigrated to Canada and settled in Berlin, Ontario, where he was widely known by all parties. He was married to Mary, daughter of John and Polly (Heckedon) Haus. She was born a few miles west of Waterloo in 1818 and died in Berlin, at their old home on Queen Street East, November 14th, 1888. He died May 10th, 1887. To them was born a family of eight children. "
