Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in her 91st year. Wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was the heart of our family. Loving and devoted wife of 69 years to Thomas C. Higgins. Mother of Barbara (Richard) Gardham, Louise (David) Snook, Katherine Higgins, Tom (Michele) Higgins. Grandmother of Beth (Gerald) Moore, Paul Gardham, Michelle (Robert) Burns, Andrea (Alex) Fraser, Michael (Holly) Higgins, Matthew (Ashley) Higgins. Great-grandmother of Jack and Mairin Moore, Cole Gardham, Madison and Nathan Burns, Joshua and Emma Fraser, Aynsleigh Higgins. Survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris Higgins, Bill (Evelyn) Higgins, Irene Joyce (Pentti) Taivainen. Predeceased by parents, Arthur and Florence (Mogg) Garlick, sister Kathlyn (Carl) Rosebrugh, sisters and brothers-in-law, Fred (Helen) Higgins, Nora (Joe) Mannion, Ted Higgins, John (Hazel) Higgins, Eva (Livingston) Higgins. Shirley enjoyed working at Gore Mutual Insurance Company for many years. Mom loved family get-togethers, holidays, camping, trips exploring Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Europe, and later years cruising around the world. Visitation at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge, on Friday, November 1, 2013, from 1- 4 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, 12 Blair Road, Cambridge, on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. Interment in Ayr Cemetery.
