NORRIS, William L. (Bill)

Passed away peacefully, in his 85th year, at Hilltop Manor Nursing Home, in Cambridge, Thursday April 28, 2011. Predeceased by his parents, James and Lily Norris, he is survived by his wife Dorothy (Nee Foley), one brother, Ray (Marilyn) and four sons, David (Kim), Barry (Kym), Allan (Valerie) and Tim (Donna), all of Cambridge. Bill was a devoted and loving grandfather and great-grandfather, who will be sorely missed by Joe, Jessica (Jamie), Jamie, Cody, Will, Lily, Candace (Chris), Patti (Ian), Stephen and Mackenzie. Bill spent much of his early career with Dobbie Industries and later with Sunbeam/Solaray in Brantford and as a recruiter for Toyota Canada. He was a skilled woodworker, avid reader and a beautiful piano player. Bill and Dorothy spent many happy hours at the family built cottage in Port Elgin. The family expresses sincere appreciation to the kind staff at Hilltop Manor for their loving care. Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 1st, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge. A private, family funeral and committal service, will take place later, followed by internment in Mount View Cemetery.

Of 51 Elgin Street North, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Sunday, August 16th., 1987, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Lily Margaret Wood and dear father of William L and Raymond J. Norris of Cambridge. Also survived by two brothers Lorne and Stan of Detroit and a sister Grace (Mrs. Ernest Myrold) of Detroit. Predeceased by a brother, Douglas. Survived by 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren. Mr. Norris was a member of Lincoln Avenue United Church and
served on the Board of Trustees for the church and the Friendship Club. Resting at the Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge, where friends will be received, on Tuesday, from 7-9 p.m. A private family service will be held from the funeral home chapel, on Wednesday, August 19th., 1987, at 2:00 p.m.

NORRIS, Lily M.

Lily M. Norris (nee Wood), died peacefully, on Saturday, April 22, at Fairview Mennonite Home, in her 94th year. She was predeceased by her husband, H. James Norris in 1987 and her sister Olive of Sarnia, in 1999. She is survived by her two sons, Bill and his wife Dorothy and Ray and his wife Marilyn, all of Cambridge. Lily is also survived by 5 grandsons: David, Barry, Allan, Timothy and Bryan. Twelve great-grandchildren also survive. Lily was a member of Lincoln Avenue United Church, for 63 years, a founding member of Friendship Club and was awarded a lifetime membership in the U.C.W. Friends were received at the Corbett Funeral Home, on Monday, from 7 p.m. A private family funeral service with interment, in Mountview will take place later.
