Louis Kaufman Passes At Cassel

One of East Zorra Township's best known and highly respected citizens, Louis Kaufman, died at his home, lot 26, concession 16, East Zorra, Tuesday morning following an illness which kept him in bed for the last two years.

Born in East Zorra, 87 years ago, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Kaufman, he had resided in East Zorra all his life with the exception of several years he spent looking after his lumber interests in the Parry Sound district. Sixty-six years ago he married Caroline Barbara Ede, who passed away 16 years ago.

He served on the East Zorra township council for about twenty-five years and in 1897, as the reeve of East Zorra, he occupied the warden's chair in the Oxford county council.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marion McCabe, Stratford, Mrs. Nichol Robertson, Sutton West, two sons, Edwin and Louis W. Kaufman, East Zorra, one brother, John P. Kaufman, East Zorra, 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the J. A. Krug funeral parlor, Tavistock, Thursday afternoon at 1.30 o'clock and interment took place in St. Matthew's Lutheran cemetery, 16th line, of East Zorra.
