    Obituary of Johanna Dyck

Passed into the presence of her Saviour on Friday, January 22, 2016, in her 96th year. Predeceased by husband George (2000), two children at birth, and son-in-law Les Harback (2009). Loving mother of John (Judy) Duyck, Louise Harback, David (Nancy) Dyck; grandma to Becky Harback, John Harback, Nathan (Ali) Duyck, Liz (Rob) Morgan, Andrew Dyck, Samuel Dyck, Joel Dyck; and great-grandma to Benson Morgan.

For over 60 years, Johanna enjoyed teaching children - first in Kitchener elementary schools, then in Child Evangelism Fellowship Good News Clubs and in children's ministries at her church where she taught into her 90's. A life-long member of Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church, she was devoted to introducing children to God's love and the saving power of Jesus.

Johanna assisted in welcoming Central American refugee families to our community and taught ESL to new Canadians. Her heart for people drew many to her home and kitchen, where she shared her gift of hospitality.

At the age of 71, she realized a life-long dream when she earned a BA from WLU.

Her family was very dear to her and enjoyed receiving her care-packages of roasted zwiebach and dried apples mailed to many parts of the world. She took great personal interest in all their endeavours and prayed for them daily.

After living over 40 years on Simeon St. in Kitchener, she moved to Emmanuel Village where she enjoyed 15 years of independent living and new friendships. Through the years, her deep trust in God sustained her, and she recognized His gracious hand in the beauty of Creation and in the joys and sorrows of daily life.

Johanna's family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26 at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo. Funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 27 at Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church, 19 Ottawa St. N., Kitchener. Memorial donations to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Ontario and M.B. Mission are appreciated. Donations may be arranged through the funeral home, www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
