JOHN GEORGE SCHMIDT By Record Correspondent

WELLESLEY, Oct. 12.-following an Illness of several months. John George Schmidt. widower, died at the home of his son, George, on Saturday in his 79th year. Cause of death was attributed to heart failure.

The deceased, was a retired farmer, was born In Wellesley township on December 25, 1858 He was a member of the St. James Lutheran church, North Easthope.

Surviving are six sons, John H., of Milverton, Henry, of Crosshill, Melvin, of Kitchener, Clarence, Cocur-D-Aline, Idaho, Sylvester, of North Easthope, and George on the homestead, five daughters, Mrs. Fred Schaefer, Kitchener, Mrs. C. Keller, and Mrs. John Rose both of Gadshill, Mrs. John Smovur, Great Falls, Mont., and Mrs. F. Diebel, Brodhagen, and one sister, Mrs. John Geotz, of Sebringville. His wife and three daughters predeceased him.

Funeral services were hold this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the home of his son George to the St. James Lutheran church, North Easthope for public services with Interment In the adjoining cemetery. Rev. J. Hammistar officiated.

John married Elizabeth Stueck 17 Sep 1895, North Easthope Twp., Perth Co., Ontario, Canada. Elizabeth (daughter of Engelhardt Stueck and Catherine Elizabeth Junghaus) was born 20 Aug 1866, South Easthope Twp., Perth Co., Ontario, Canada; died 29 Jul 1914; was buried , Saint James Lutheran Church Cemetery, Mennonite Corner, Perth County, Ontario, Canada. Hampstead - The death of Mr. Eng. Stueck, sr., occurred on Dec. 29th. He had lived in the township for nearly 30 years, and previous to that he spent about as long a time in South Easthope. The old gentleman had reached the advanced age of 78 years, 10 months and 30 days, and gained the highest respect of all who knew him. He leaves a family of six children, two others having died in infancy. The funeral occurred on the following Tuesday and was largely attended.

The death of Mrs. Catherine Stueck, widow of the late Engelhard Stueck, occurred last Saturday evening at the home of her son, Mr. George Stueck, in her 88th year. Deceased was born in Germany and came to Canada in 1818. The following year she was married to Mr. Stueck, with whom she had become acquainted when crossing the Atlantic. They lived at Preston a short time then settled on a farm in South Easthope west of Balaclava where they lived many years and where their family was born and raised. About thirty years ago they moved to Hampstead where Mr. Stueck died a little over three years ago. Since that time, Mrs. Stueck has made her home principally with her daughter, Mrs. J.G. Schmidt, on the Wellesley boundary north of here, and for the past few months at the home of her son, George, where she died. A slight stroke about two years ago weakened her health and a second attack recently was the principal cause of her death. The remains were laid away to rest on Tuesday in St. Jacob's (Lutheran) Cemetery, of which church she had for so many years been a consistent, highly respected member.[there are multiple errors in fact in the obit]
