    Notes:

    Geo. Bellinger.

The subject of this sketch was born in Alsfeldt, Province of Hesse Darmstadt in 1848. In 1856 he came with his parents to America. They went to Peoria, Illinois, where they lived for two years. After this they resided in Tavistock. Mr. Bellinger learned the harness making trade with his father in Tavistock. The average harness maker has an inclination to roam, but Mr. Bellinger was of a different spirit and settled down to business for himself in Wellesley village, where for thirty-two years he has successfully carried on a harness shop, and is today one of the old reliable. well-to-do business men of the village He was married in 1873 to Mary Diebel, daughter of the late Simon Diebel, formerly hotel-keeper of Lisbon. Her mother is still living and resides here. Mr. and Mrs. Bellinger have been blessed with seven children, all living. The eldest son, Alfred, is a clerk in John Schnarr's grocery, Berlin. Mr. Bellinger acquired knowledge in telegraphy years ago, and now is the representative here of the Great Northwestern Telegraph office, it being located in his shop. His eldest daughters, Lucinda and Estella, are accomplished telegraph operators, and give their father considerable assistance in case of a rush. Estella recently returned from New Dundee where she had charge of the millinery department of one of the large stores. Mr. Bellinger is also an issuer of marriage licenses, and is at present Secretary of the Wellesley and North Easthope Agricultural Society. The latter position he has held for eighteen years. Mr. Bellinger has one of the finest private residences in this section. It is large brick structure located near shop It is made attractive by a beautiful front lawn and garden in the rear.
