    STEELE, MARY CATHERINE

    Word has just been received by relatives of the death on Friday, October 19, 1917 of Mary Catherine Steele at Sceptre, SK, the 14-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Steele, formerly of Galt. She was born in Galt and had lived there until seven years ago, when the family moved to a farm in Puslinch. Shortly after leaving Galt, she was stricken with infantile paralysis and has been an invalid ever since. She then contracted other diseases and last spring, the parents went west with the hope of benefiting their daughter's health. Interment will take place in the west. Frank Steele of Metcalfe St. in Guelph, is an uncle. Mrs. Thomas Paddock of Puslinch Township and Mrs. John Jamieson of Hespeler are aunts.

    STEELE, JAMES

    Word has been received in Galt, by his nephew, Robert Jamieson of Lansdowne Rd. , of the death of Mr. Steele on October 15, 1950, in the Cabri Hospital. He had been in poor health for some time. Mr. Steele lived in Galt for a number of years and was employed by the Goldie McCullough Co. He lived on Victoria Ave. He went to western Canada in 1917. He farmed until retiring and taking up residence in Lemsford, SK. Surviving are his wife, Agnes Austin, formerly of Kirkwall and one brother, Frank Steele of 40 Dumfries St. , Galt. Funeral on Wed. , Oct. 25 in Lemsford. Interment Sceptre, SK.

    STEELE, JAMES

    A former resident of Puslinch, peacefully, at the home of his son, Mitchell Steele, at Maple Creek (or Sceptre - differing reports), SK, on Thursday, January 21st 1915. Word was received by his son, Frank Steele of Metcalfe St. in Galt. Mr. Steele was well known in Galt and vicinity. He and his wife went west some time ago on a visit to their two sons, intending to return last fall but were unable to return owing to Mr. Steele's ill health. Mr. Steele was one of the most successful farmers of Puslinch Township and was widely known. He was a life-long Liberal and an old member of Knox Church in Galt. He had been a subscriber to the Galt Weekly Reporter for a great many years and was an intimate friend of the Jaffray brothers. His widow, four sons and one daughter survive him: James on the homestead at Aberfoyle; William and Mitchell of Sceptre, SK; Mrs. Thomas Paddock of Puslinch and Frank of Galt. The funeral takes place on January 23rd at Sceptre.

    STEELE, CATHARINE (Nee Kerr)

    Word has been received of the death of Catharine Steele, relict of James Steele, a former well known resident of Puslinch, at Sceptre, SK, on Sunday, October 13, 1918. She had been living with her son in the west for the past six or seven years and had been ailing for five months. She was in her 77th year and was born on the Kerr farm on the St. George Road, a daughter of the late James Kerr. She had, for many years, been a resident of Puslinch Township, where she was very well known. Predeceased by her husband, who died in the west about four years ago. Survived by one brother, John Kerr of California, the last of the family; fours sons and one daughter, James, William and Mitchell in the west; Frank of Galt; and Mrs. Thomas R. Paddock of Puslinch.
