JOHN R. HEDRICH

John R Hedrick, 77, of Elmira, died Friday Sept. 8, at St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy Illness.

Born July 18, 1884, in Elmira, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Hedrich. For many year he operated a butcher business in Elmira. He was a member of the Elmira Musical Society for 32 years.

Surviving are three daughters. Mrs. Eric Lindsay, Mrs. Gordon Delacour and Mrs. A. Bart, all of California, three sons. Harry of Oshawa. Claire of Elmira and Ralph of California; one sister. Mrs. Jacob Eisenbach of Brantford: three brothers. Herbert of Elmira, Fred of Breslau and Henry of St. Thomas. A sister, Mrs. Simon Gingrich of Hanover and one brother, Peter, predeceased him.

The body was at the Dreisinger Funeral Home where the funeral was conducted by Rev. Frank Malinsky Monday. Burial followed in Elmira Cemetery.

Kick by Horse Proves Fatal

Elmira, Ontario, January 5 - N. Hedrich, a prominent citizen of Elmira, was kicked on the head by a horse Sunday morning the blow fracturing his skull, which resulted in his death last night.

Born in Renim, Hessen, Germany, in 1856, Mr. Hederich came to this county in 1872 and followed the carpentering business until 1897, when he went in the butcher business in which he was very successful. He was a Conservative in politics and a member of the Lutheran church and respected by all who knew him. A wife and seven children survive.

Mrs. Nicholas Hedrich Victim of Heart Ailment; Funeral Held on Sunday Last

Seriously ill only a few days, Selina Rook, widow of Nicholas Hedrich, passed away Thursday at the home of her son, Mr. Fred Hedrich. The last Mrs. Hedrich who was 69 years of age, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rook. She was born in the United States but had resided the greater portion of her life in Elmira and was widely known and highly respected in the community. For some time she had suffered from heart trouble and took a turn for the worse early last week. She was married to Mr. Hedrich, who predeceased her in 1881. She is survived by four sons and one daughter Henry, John and Fred of Elmira, and Herbert of Kitchener; Mrs. Emma Eisenbach, of Brantford. One brother, John Rook, of Elmira, and a sister, Mrs. Caroline Wels of Preston also survive.

The funeral, which was largely attended, took place Sunday to St. Paul's Lutheran Church of which she had been a faithful member for many hears and thence to Elmira Cemetery with Rev. A. Gallmeier, officiating. Pallbearers were Messrs. John H. Ruppel, Fred Seigner, Henry Ruppel, John Geisel, Henry Muth and Casper Heimbecker.

Mrs. Anna Ford
Mrs. Anna Jane Ford, a resident of Elmira for the past 46 years, died at St. Joseph's hospital, Guelph, on Thursday evening. In her 79^th year, Mrs. Ford was born on the Eighth of Peel. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Brooks and widow of the late J. W. Ford, who predeceased her in 1926.

A lover of flowers, the late Mrs. Ford was one of the founders of the Elmira Horticultural Society. Her garden was one of the beauty spots of Elmira. She was a member of the United church and Ladies' Aid.

The late Mrs. Ford was twice married, her first husband being George Stickney. Surviving children of her first marriage are John E. Stickney, High Bluff, Man.; Wilbert W. Stickney who resides in the United States, and Josephine R. (Mrs. John R. Hedrich), Elmira. Gladys Lidella Ford died in childhood.

The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon from Dreisinger's Funeral Chapel. Interment was made in the Elmira Cemetery. Pall-bearers were two grandchildren and four nephews, Harry and Clare Hedrich, Russell Thackery, Roy Stickney, Gordon and Ellwyn Cherry.
