Elmslie, Books and Stationery, Main Street - Among the notable business houses and mercantile landmarks of Galt, must be mentioned that of Mr. A.G. Elmslie, dealer in books, stationery, musical instruments, etc. This house was founded, in the same place now occupied, 29 years ago, and since its inception has enjoyed a large and steadily increasing patronage. The premises occupied are 13x60 feet in dimensions and three stories in height, and employment is furnished to three competent assistants. The stock carried is full and well assorted, and contains stationery of all descriptions, plain and fancy note papers and envelopes, blank books, blanks, pens, inks, mucilage, and all other articles coming under the head of stationery; also books, fancy goods of every description, beautiful in design and suitable for presents, etc.; and a large line of musical instruments is constantly kept in stock. Mr. Elmslie's well know custom of selling at the lowest possible prices has earned for him a large patronage, which extends throughout the town and surrounding country. He is a native of Canada, and has, by indomitable industry, perseverance and enterprise, joined to ability, built up his present enviable trade. He is a gentleman highly esteemed by all who know him.
