    Robert Armstrong Passes

    Robert W. Armstrong, 52, of 122 Silver St.. Paris, died at his home on Thursday. Mr. Armstrong was the son of John E. Armstrong and the late Edith Foreman Armstrong. He was born in Ayr and lived most of his life here, moving to Paris four years ago. He had been employed at Moffats Catering Service of Galt. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, Paris. Mr. Armstrong is survived by his wife, the former Violet Sault; daughter, Mrs. Rufus (Audrey) Knechtel of Ayr: son, Kenneth of Paris; father, John Armstrong of Ayr; sister, Mrs. Henry (Agnes) McLelland of Paris. Funeral service was held at the William Kipp Funeral Home, Paris, on Monday. conducted by Peter McHutchion of Kingdom Hall. Interment was made in Ayr Cemetery.

    Mrs. Robert Armstrong

    Mrs. Robert Armstrong of Paris passed away in Willett Hospital, Paris, on Friday, May 22nd. A former resident of Ayr, she was in her 79th year. The former Violet May Sault, she was born in Hespeler, the daughter of the late Brock Sault and Laura Hunsperger. Wife of the late Robert William Armstrong, mother of Audrey and her husband Rufus Knechtel of Ayr, Kenneth and his wife Vera of Paris; grandmother of Brenda and her husband Barry Gillespie of Ayr and Pauline Mitchell of Kitchener; great-grand-mother of Laura, Sarah and Alison Gillespie, Ashley and Russell Mitchell; sister of Harold Sault of Wainfleet and Sylvester Sault of Mission, B.C.; sister-in-law of Agnes McLelland of Paris. Rested at the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Paris, where funeral service was held on Monday. Interment Ayr Cemetery.

    John E. Armstrong Passes

    John E. Armstrong passed away in Paris Nursing Home last Wednesday. He was in his 90th year. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs, Robert Armstrong, John was a lifelong resident of Ayr prior to moving to Paris a short time ago. John's father was at one time reeve of Ayr and also held the seat of Waterloo County warden. For many years, Mr. Armstrong operated a stage coach and livery stable in Ayr. He later went into the garage and cartage business. The garage was located in the Premier-Spring building, Stanley Street. He hauled C.P.R. express and mail to and from the Ayr depot before the C.P.R. discontinued the service some years ago. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William (Agnes) McLelland of Paris; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Henderson and Mrs. Mary Watkins, both of Ayr; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Edith Foreman in 1949, also a son Robert and daughter Eva. Funeral service was conducted Saturday afternoon from the William Kipp Funeral Home, Paris. Rev. Robert Birtch of Princeton officiated. Interment in Ayr Cemetery. Pallbearers were Heinz Phienel, Albert Wreaks, Stanley Wood, R. Daniels, Ben Ibele Sr., and Carl Nichols.

    Mrs. John E. Armstrong Passes

    The death occurred at her home in Ayr on Friday of Mrs. John E. Armstrong, following a lengthy illness.

    Born in Tavistock, she was the former Edith Foreman. She attended the Anglican Church.

    Surviving, besides her husband, are one son, Robert, Ayr; one daughter, Mrs. Henry (Agnes) McLellan, Ayr; three brothers, John and James, Bright, and Blake of Ayr; one sister, Mrs. George Muma of Ayr, and two grandchildren.

    The Funeral
    The funeral was held from the W. O. Ball Funeral Parlor on Monday afternoon. The service, which was largely attended, was conducted by Rev. L. V. Pocock. The many beautiful floral tributes bore silent testimony to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Interment was made in Ayr Cemetery. The pallbearers were: John Manson; Lyon Findlater; L. C. Vincent; Harold Cornford; James Baker, Paris; and David McLellan, Paris.

    Notes:

    Robert came from Ancaster in 1894 and bought the old livery barn at the back of the Queen's hotel. Later in 1899 he purchased the building across from the Old Commercial Hotel on Stanley Street and was in business there until 1924 when his son took over.

    Death of Mrs. Armstrong - Following a short illness of pneumonia, the death occurred on Sunday morning at 3.30 o'clock of Mrs. Robert S. Armstrong, in her 70th year. She was born in Orono, Durham County, and married on January 23rd, 1878. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong had arranged to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage on January the 23rd of this year, but owing to Mrs. Armstrong falling ill, the celebration was not held. Deceased came to Ayr with her husband 34 years ago, and was highly esteemed for her many fine qualities by practically everyone in the community. She attended the Anglican Church, and was always ready to lend assistance in any worthy cause. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son and two daughters, as follows: John E., Mrs. John Henderson and Miss Mary, all of Ayr. Four sisters also survive, viz.: Mrs. John Sleep, Carsonville, Mich.; Mrs. George Sheriff, Toronto; Mrs. James Patton, Toronto; and Miss Bella Watson, Orono. The funeral, which took place to Ayr Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, was largely attended. The services were in charge of Rev M r. Dobson, and the following gentlemen acted as pallbearers: Messrs. George Brown, Pt. Nelson; Willard Ingram, Mitchel, William Leithead, William Manson, Murdo Lillico and Walter Clark.
