    NAFZIGER, David R.

    On Monday, April 6, 1981, at the Stratford General Hospital, David R. Nafziger, of the Brunner Nursing Home, formerly of Topping.
    Mr. Nafziger was born in Topping 85 years ago. He was a son of the late Christian Nafziger and Lena Reschly. He was a member of the Mornington Amish Mennonite Church, Poole West. He farmed at Topping, retiring several years ago.

    Beloved father of Melvin of RR 1, Milverton; father-in-law of Marian Nafziger of New Hamburg and Freida (Mrs. Clayton Wagler) of RR 2, Petersburg. Also survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife, the former Catherine Jantzi, October 5, 1963; also three sons, Irvin in 1979, John in 1956, David in 1947; also one brother and three sisters.

    Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, Wellesley, after 7 p.m. this evening. Family service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, April 9, at 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service at the Mornington Amish Mennonite Church at 2 p.m. Bishop Aaron Jantzi will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

    John Jantzi

    A life long resident of Wellesley Township, Mr. John Jantzi, passed away at his home a mile and a half south of Wellesley, at nine-thirty Sunday morning, Nov. 12th, 1950, in his 85th year. Mr. Jantzi had been in poor health for about two years. The eldest son of the late Michael Jantzi and Lydia Brenneman, he was born on March 25th, 1866, on the farm where he passed away where his son David now resides. Around the year 1889 he was married to Mattie Wagler, who died in 1907. He then married the former Mary Wagler in 1912, who survives. Mr. Jantzi had been engaged in farming until retiring about twenty years ago. Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Noah, John and David, near Wellesley, and six daughters, Mrs. Christian Albrecht (Barbara), Vero Beach, Fla.; Mrs. Jacob Albrecht (Lydia), Crosshill; Mrs. David Nafziger (Katie), Topping; Mrs. David Zehr (Mattie), Crosshill; Mrs. David Roes (Elizabeth), Millbank, and Mrs. Enoch Horst (Sarah), Millbank; 44 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Jacob, who died in June 1949 and Michael, and two daughters Mary and Nancy. Also a brother Jacob, and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Nafziger (Mattie) and Elizabeth Jantzi predeceased him. The funeral service was conducted from his late residence Thursday morning (today). This was followed with a service in Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church on the 3rd Line of Wellesley. Rev. Moses Nafziger officiated at the services. Interment took place in the cemetery adjoining the church.

    It is with deep sorrow that we have to report the death of Mr. Jacob Wagler, who died on Tuesday, the 5th inst. at 5 o'clock in the morning. The funeral took place on Thursday morning at 9, and was well attended. Mr. Wagler was the first Amish settler in this community and was a man highly respected by all who came in contact with him. Many a weary traveller found shelter under his roof and he always was kind to them. No doubt he will be much missed. The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved family in this their sad affliction.

    DEATH OF BISHOP WAGLER.

    Mr. Jacob Wagler, Bishop of the Amish Mennonite church, died at his home on the fifth line on Tuesday morning. He had been ill but a few days and was in Wellesley village within a week or so. He was in his 62nd year and was apparently a healthy man until attacked by pneumonia a few days ago. He has lived in this section a very long time and enjoyed the highest esteem of all with whom he came in contact. For nearly 20 years he has been a bishop in his church and was a powerful speaker. His remains are to be interred at 9 o'clock this (Thursday morning.)
