    Notes:

MULLOY, NELSON a son of John Mulloy of West Gwillimbury, Simcoe County, was born on February 15, 1842. As his father had been active in establishing a school in their area, it was perhaps inevitable that the son would enter the teaching profession. After attending the Toronto Normal School he taught for several years before changing professions. He graduated from Victoria University in 1866.

Doon was his choice of a location to start his practice, and his card appeared in the Galt Reporter on July 20, 1866 Dr. Nelson Mulloy, Graduate of Victoria College, Physician, Surgeon & Accoucheur. Office at McGarvey's Hotel, Doon.

In 1870 he moved to Preston, and in his active years had a very large practice. For years he was on the Public School Board, a member of the Town Council, and Medical Officer of Health. He was a member of the usual fraternal and professional organizations. On August 28, 1913 he died in his 72nd, year, and was survived by his wife and five daughters.

The Galt Daily Reporter said & (he was) one of Preston's best known and most highly respected citizens both as a practitioner, and as a man, (he) enjoyed the confidence and esteem of those with whom the affairs of life brought him in contact.
