Principal R. N. Merritt
After Mr. Forsyth's retirement, the Board was obliged to seek for a principal of unusual qualifications. For, says the school historian, "They were about to launch on a somewhat crowded sea of education a type of school quite new in the Province." The trustees selected Principal R. N. Merritt, B.A., of Owen Sound, in June, 1921. Mr. Merritt shouldered the task of building on a large scale, organized the combined school, and chose the teachers for the technical departments.
