    Simon Thaler, for 20 years a resident of Breslau, passed away at his home last night aged 66 years. He was born near Williamsburg and was well known by a host of friends thru-out the district. He is survived by his wife and six children, Mrs. Levi Swartz, New Hamburg; Mrs. J. Geiger, Kitchener, William and Evelyn of Kitchener; Howard of German Mills; and Laura at home. The funeral will be held. Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock with services at the house followed by a service At the New Mennonite church, Breslau, after which interment will take plalce in the Strassburg Mennonite cemetery.

    Mrs. Fannie Thaler, widow of the late Simon Thaler, passed away at the Turner Private Hospital, Saturday morning. She was 75 Years of age.

    Surviving are two sons. William, R.S. 2, Kitchener. Howard Kitchener a three daughters, Mrs. L. Schwartz, Aldershot, Mrs. J. Geiger, Kitchener and Mrs. Harry Prange, Breslau.

    The remaiins rested at the Rats. Bechtel Funeral Home.

    David Thaler of Mannheim Dies In 96th Year Many Descendants

    At nine o'clock yesterday morning, the death occurred at Mannheim, of David Thaler, in his 96th year, after a residence in the county of over eighty-three years. Born in Germany, deceased came to Canada when a lad of thirteen years, settling on a farm in the vicinity of Berlin. When fifteen years of age, he suffered from a form of hip disease, which left him lame. For a number of years after he followed the printer's trade later returning to the farm, where he spent the balance of his life.

    At the age of twenty-two, he was married to Rosina Mader, who predeceased him about forty-three years ago, dying very suddenly in Berlin. Thirty years ago he retired from the farm, living since with his sons, and later at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph Hallman, where death overtook him.

    Six sons and two daughters survive him, namely, John of Elmwood, Jacob of Bagley, Iowa; David of Centreville; Simon of Breslau; Andrew of Berlin; Mrs. William Morley of Listowel and Mrs. Joseph Hallman, of Mannheim. Two sons and two daughters predeceased him. 125 grandchildren, 200 great grandchildren, 50 of the fourth, and some of the fifth generation also survive.

    Although past his allotted four score years and ten, the late Mr. Thaler was not a victim of many of the infirmities that overtake those of his age, and even though lame, he often enjoyed long walks, a walk of five miles in one day, not appearing to tire him greatly. His intellect was clear and his mind filled with pleasant bits of the early history of the county, that made a chat with him a delight for those interested in the early pioneer days. The funeral will take place from the residence of his daughter, Mannheim, to the New Mennonite Church, Berlin, for service and Mount Hope Cemetery for burial.

    David according to family lore was involved with hauling wheat from Waterloo Township to Dundas, Ontario. On one trip in the winter he fell asleep and the horses followed the other teams that he was with. He suffered from the the cold and was taken to a hotel to warm. He developed a hip affliction and afterwards always wore high boots and with one of them with a 4 to 5 inch heel and sole to conpensate for the now shorter leg.

    Michael Miller, well known resident of German Mills, passed away at his home at seven o'clock this morning, aged 74 years, three months and 28 days. Deceased was born December 1, 1846. He is survived by five children, Mrs. Fannie Thaler, Breslau, Mrs. Susie Wanner, Strasburg, Mrs. Julia Bergey, German Mills, Charles Miller of Cedar Edge, Col., and Mrs. Mollie Israel of Kitchener. The funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon with private services at the residence at two o'clock, and from thence to the Strasburg Mennonite Church for services and the cemetery for interment.

    Abram Tohman, "the eldest, was born in 1804. He was married to Mary, eldest daughter of Samuel and Rebecca (Eby) Bricker. She was born November 3rd, 1806. After their marriage they resided on her father's old homestead near Freeport, Ontario, until February 25th, 1846, when the moved to Wilmot Township, a little west of New Dundee where they resided until his death which occurred December 12th, 1867. After his death the widow had her home with her son, Samuel, who now possesses the old homestead. She died December 27th, 1893."

    TOMAN.-Mary Toman (maiden name Bricker), widow of the late Abraham Toman, was born in Waterloo township, Waterloo Co., Ont., November 3, 1806, and died in the township of Wilmot, December 26, 1893, aged 87 years, 1 month and 23 days. She survived her husband for over 26 years. She leaves a posterity of 9 children, 65 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral on Dec 29th, 1893, on which occasion M.S. Bowman preached in German from John 14: 3, and Noah Stauffer in English from Isaiah 28: 29. Buried in Blenheim cemetery. Her end was peace.
