    JANTZI, Orland July 9, 1940 - August 30, 2012 Passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Grand River Hospital at the age of 72. Beloved husband and best friend of Eleanor of 49 years. Beloved father of Tom (Sherri) and Cynthia Clasper. Orland was a loving Grandpa and Papa to his three special grand-daughters, Candice, Jadyn and Chloe. Dear brother of Mel (Pat) Jantzi, Dorothy Roth, Esther (Mel) Harrison, Stan (Lisa) Jantzi. He is also survived by Eleanor's sisters and brothers Delphine (Mel) Zehr, Joy (Cornelius) Klassen, Kathy (Paul) Steckle, Chuck (Tanya) Erb, Marjorie Steckle, and Phil (Laurie) Erb. Predeceased by his parents Elias and Laura Jantzi, in-laws Mervin Roth, Gerald Steckle, Carol and Cyril Erb Gingerich, nephew Peter Hammer and niece Connie Steckle. Orland lived for his work as the owner and operator of Summer Breeze Heating and Air Conditioning. He enjoyed life and work to the fullest and never gave a thought to retirement. He was a member of First Mennonite Church in Kitchener. Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Monday, September 3, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, September 4, from 1-2 p.m. at First Mennonite Church, 800 King St. E., Kitchener. The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. at First Mennonite Church. Reception to follow in the church hall. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy to the family, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee or the Heart and Stroke Foundation by contacting the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home at 519-745-8445 or at www.erbgood.com.

    Of Crosshill, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 1978, at. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. Born in Wellesley Township 69 years ago, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob B. Jantzi. A member of the Crosshill Mennonite Church; farmed in Wellesley Township. retired to Crosshill. Beloved husband of Laura Gerber; beloved father of Melvin of Route 2, Petersburg. Orland of Route 1, Linwood, Stanley of Route 1, Millbank, Mrs. Mervin(Dorothy) Roth of Route 1, Tavistock and Esther Jantzi of Cambridge; brother of Aaron W. Jantzi of Millbank, Samuel Jantzi of Wellesley and Mrs. Irvin(Miriam) Nafziger of New Hamburg; also survived by nine grandchildren. Predeceased by three brothers and one sister. Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home in Wellesley where the family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. At noon Saturday, January 14, the remains will be removed to Maple View Mennonite Church for funeral service at 2 p.m. Rev. Steven Gerber will officiate. Interment to follow in the Maple View Mennonite cemetery.

    Jantzi, Elias W., son of Jacob and Magdalene (Wagler) Jantzi, was born in Wellesley Twp., Ont.; died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., Jan. 11, 1978; aged 69 y. He was married to Laura Gerber, who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons (Melvin, Orland, and Stanley), 2 daughters (Dorothy - Mrs. Mervin Roth and Esther), 2 brothers (Aaron W. and Samuel Jantzi) and one sister (Miriam Nafziger). He was a member of Crosshill Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held at the Maple View Mennonite Church on Jan. 14, in charge of Steve Gerber and Ervin Erb.

    Laura was a faithful member of Crosshill Mennonite Church, where she was active in the WMSC. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed cooking and gardening.

St. Clements, Esther and her husband Mel Harrison of Cambridge; dear sister of Solomon and his wife Eva Gerber, Ohmer and his wife Sarah Gerber, Moses and his wife Mildred Gerber, all of Wellesley, Esther, Mrs. David Schwartz of New Hamburg, Sarah, Mrs. Ralph Leis of New Hamburg, Elmina, Mrs. Alvin Jantzi of Wellesley; sister-in-law of Sarah, Mrs. Elmer Gerber of Stratford, Mary, Mrs. Amos Gerber of Millbank, Miriam, Mrs. Irvin Nafziger of New Hamburg, Mary, Mrs. Simeon Jantzi of Waterloo, Edna, Mrs. Sam Jantzi of Wellesley; brother-in-law, Nick Schmidt of Stratford. Funeral Home, 40 Henry St. W., in Wellesley, where family and friends will be received today (Saturday) from 7-9 and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon Monday, Dec. 16th, removal will be made to the Maple View Mennonite Church for the service at 2:30 p.m. Pastor James Ferber and Rev. Gerald -Schwartzentruber will officiate. Burial will follow in the Maple View Mennonite Cemetery.

On Dec.1, 1903, he was married to Magdalena Wagler, who preceded him in death, Aug. 31, 1941. On Nov. 7, 1943, he was married to Fanny Lichty, who died July 22, 1963. Surviving are 4 sons (Simeon, Elias, Aaron, and Samuel), one daughter (Miriam - Mrs. Irvin Nafziger), 23 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sons (Tobias and Benjamin), one daughter (Leah), 4 sisters, and one brother. He was a member of the Maple View Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held May 16, in charge of Alvin Leis and Stevanus Gerber; interment in adjoining cemetery.

    SOLOMON GERBER

    Solomon R. Gerber, Wellesley, died suddenly at his home Saturday night, February 28th. Born in Wilmot township, October 14th, 1879, he was a son of the late Christian Gerber and the former Annie Reschly. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church. Mr. Gerber farmed in Wilmot township until he retired to Wellesley in 1944. His wife, the former Laura Leis, died in 1956. Surviving are five sons, Elmer and Ohmar, Wellesley; Amos and Solomon, both of R.R. 1, Millbank, and Moses, R.R. 1, Wellesley; five daughters, Mrs. Nicholas (Emma) Schmidt, Millbank; Mrs. David (Esther) Schwartz, R.R. 1, Millbank; Mrs. Ralph (Sarah) Leis, Wellesley; ;Mrs. Alvin (Emily) Jantzi, Wellesley; two brothers, Daniel, R.R. 1, Bamburg, and Christian, of Kingwood; one sister, Mrs. Daniel (Nancy) Erb, Wellesley; 42 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The remains rested at the family home, Wellesley, where service was held today (Wednesday) at 1: 30 p.m., followed by a memorial service at Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church, at 2: 00 p.m. Bishop Samuel Roth officiated. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery.

    WELLESLEY Mrs. Solomon Gerber, 69, the former Laura Leis, died yesterday at her home in Wellesley, after a long illness.

    Born Oct 9, 1886. she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Menno Leis. She was a member of Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church
    Her husband survives along with five sons, Elmer and Moses. both of Wilmot Township: Amos, Soloman and Ohmer, all of Wellesley Township: and five daughters. Mrs. Nickolas (Emma) Schmidt of Millbank. Mrs. David (Esther) Schwartz of Crosshill. Mrs. Elras Laura Jantz), Mrs. Ralph. (Sarah) Leis and Mrs. Al- vin (Elmina) Jantzi, all of Wellesley Township. There are 41 grandchildren and one great- grandchild. One son and one daughter predeceased her.

    The body is at home where the funeral will be conducted Thursday at 1:30 p.m.. followed by memorial service in Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoin ing cemetery. Bishop Samuel Roth will officiate..

    Description
    Historic C.1900 slant-top desk crafted by Waterloo County cabinetmaker Christian O. Gerber (1845-1928, Wellesley Ontario). Refer to Michael Bird's "A Splendid Harvest - Germanic Folk and Decorative Arts in Canada" (1981: p.115, fig. 83). An outstanding example. Pine, grain-painted surface simulating figured maple, cross-banding, and paneling, full-round pilasters ebonized with floral highlights. Said to be the 'the nicest known' example. Condition: Excellent. Untouched original surface. Desk writing surface felt deteriorated. 42.5" w x 21.5" d x 57" h.

    WELLESLEY.-A native of Wellesley township, Menno Leis, 83, township Menno Leis died here Tuesday night at the home of his son-in-law, Solomon Gerber. He had been ill three weeks. He attended Maple View Mennonite Church, Third Line of Wellesley. His wife predeceased him some years ago.

    Surviving is one son, Milton, of Kitchener, one daughter, Mrs. Solomon Gerber, Wellesley, and a brother, Solomon, of Baden. He was predeceased by one son, three daughters, eight brothers and four sisters.

    Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, with Rev. Samuel Schultz officiating.
