Lichti. --- Christian S., son of Christian and Nancy (Schlegel) Lichti, was born July 26, 1874 at St. Agatha, Ont.; died at the General Hospital, Geneva, Neb., Sept. 19, 1940, where he spent the last 23 days of his life; aged 66 y. 1 m. 24 d. In his youth he united with the Mennonite Church and remained faithful to the end. On Jan. 1, 1903, he was united in marriage to Celesta E. Kaufman at Milford, Neb. Together they shared the joys and sorrows of life for over 37 years, of which 26 years were spent in the community of Milford. To this union were born 5 daughters. He leaves his loving companion (who patiently cared for him during the last eight months of his life, during which time he was bedfast due to heart complications which he bore very patiently), also 5 daughters (Neoda, wife of Ed. Kennel of Milford; Grace, wife of Albert Schiffler, New Meadows, Ida.; Lydia, wife of Wes Schiffler, Filer, Ida.; Delta, wife of Glen Klopfenstein; and Delsie, both of Archbold, Ohio). Ten grandchildren also survive. All were present at the funeral except 1 son-in-law and 2 granddaughters. His father-in-law (J. J. Kaufman of Filer, Ida.) was present at the funeral. He also leaves 2 brothers and 2 sisters (Nick, Dan, and Lena of Milford; Anna of Wayland, Ia.), and a large host of relatives and friends. His parents, 1 brother, and 4 sisters preceded him in death. Lichti, Celesta Ellen, daughter of Jacob J. and Sarah (Troyer) Kauffman, was born near Amboy, Ind., Jan. 31, 1881; died at the Fillmore Community Hospital, Geneva, Neb., July 13, 1970; aged 89 y. 5 m. 12 d. On Jan. 1, 1903, she was married to Christian S. Lichti, who died in 1940. Surviving are 5 daughters (Grace - Mrs. Albert Schiffler, Neoda - Mrs. Edward Kennel, Lydia - Mrs. Wesley Schiffler, Delsie - Mrs. Kenneth Maddock, and Mrs. Delta Klopfenstein), 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, one brother (Jonas Kauffman), and 5 sisters (Mrs. Dan Slatter, Mrs. Sumner Musser, Mrs. William Weaver, Mrs. Pete Slatter, and Mrs. Lee Stepp). She was a member of the Salem Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held July 16, with Lee Schlegel and Albert Gaeddert officiating; interment in the nearby cemetery.

Lichti.--Bro. Christian Lichti was born Sept. 1, 1844, at St. Agatha, Can.; died near Shickley, Nebr., Mar. 31, 1911; aged 66 y. 7 m. He was united in marriage with Nancy Schlegel Dec. 30, 1866. To this union were born 10 children, two of which preceded him to the spirit world. He leaves a sorrowing wife, 4 sons, 4 daughters, 22 grandchildren and 1 sister in Canada. He was a faithful member of the A. M. Church from his youth. On April 3 the remins* were laid to rest at the Salem cemetery. Funeral services by Bro. Joseph Schlegel of Milford, Nebr., in German and Bro. Daniel Lapp of Roseland, Nebr., in English. May God comfort the bereaved ones.
