    Mr. J.P. Starnaman Succumbs to Paralytic Stroke on Saturday

    Lived in Berlin 42 Years

    An old resident and well known business man passed away on Saturday afternoon when Mr. J.P. Starnaman died from the effects of a paralytic stroke. Mr. Starnaman had been in feeble health for the past two years, but was as well as usual until last Wednesday. The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 from his residence, 16 Wilmot Street. He was aged 71 years and 1 day.

    Mr. J.P. Starnaman was born at St. George, Ont., August 16th, 1841. He came to Berlin about forty-two years ago and worked for several years at the old Simpson furniture factory. About thirty-five years ago he opened out a picture framing business in the store now occupied by Jaimet & Co. With the exception of a few years he has been in this business continuously. On account of failing health he disposed of his interests to his son Walter, who had been with him for nineteen years.

    Mr. Starnaman was a member of the School Board for two years.

    He leaves a widow and two sons, Walter, merchant, and George, of the Ontario Veterinary College, Toronto, and four grandchildren. He was a member of Berlin Tent Knights of the Maccabees.
