JOHN HAWKE

The funeral services for the late John Hawke who died in Moose Jaw on Sunday, were held yesterday afternoon at Moose Jaw and were conducted by Rev. E. J. Chegwin, assisted by Rev. Dr. Crummy. Mr. Hawke died of heart disease and was seventy years of age when death came. He had been a resident of Moose Jaw for eighteen years. He is survived by his widow and two sons, W. B. Hawke, of Moose Jaw and A. H. Hawke of Drinkwater district.

Mr. Hawke was a native of England, but came to this country in his youth. Previous to settling in Moose Jaw he resided in Winnipeg for a number of years and travelled through the western provinces in the Interests of the Gurney Foundry Company of Toronto.

In 1904 Mr. Hawke and his two sons, W. B. Hawke and E. Hawke, who predeceased him, founded the Moose Jaw Hardware Co, and he continued in active service with this company until about three years ago, when he transferred his attentions to his farm at Drinkwater. In 1913 the Moose Jaw Heating and Plumbing Co. was reorganized separate from the hardware business.

Mr. Hawke did not give up ative work until about one month ago, and was confined to the house only a week previous to him death.
