    GINGERICH, Verlus Ray - - of New Hamburg, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Hospice of Waterloo. He leaves behind his best friend and beloved wife of 63 years, Marietta (Roth). Cherished dad of son James (Anna), daughters Jennifer Jacobi (Mike), and Jane (Tim). Much loved Papa to Rebecca and Daniel Zehr (Aerin). Survived by brothers Ronald (Judith), and Robert (Shirley), brother-in-law Ross (Glenda), sisters-in-law Christine (Gerald) and Kitty (Cathy). Predeceased by his parents, Willis and Mabel, his in-laws, Marjorie (Pat), brother, Richard and sister-in-law Patsy.

    Verlus was a member of First Mennonite Church and a Charter member of the Optimist Club of New Hamburg. Verlie will be remembered for his expertise in woodworking, his love of music, cooking, and his unique sense of humour.

    Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. The funeral will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Rene Baergen officiating. A private family interment will take place in the First Mennonite Church Cemetery. A live stream of the funeral will also take place.

    Those wishing to attend the visitation and funeral MUST RSVP on the funeral home website. Masks and social distancing guidelines must be followed.

    As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Hospice of Waterloo Region (Cook Family Residence) or the Angel Project would be appreciated by the family and can be done through the funeral home website.

    GINGERICH, Willis J. -- Of 320 Waterloo St., New Hamburg, entered into eternal rest, Thursday, Feb.5, 1987, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, in his 78th year. He was born in Shingletown, February 23, 1909, a son of the late Louis and Catherine (Jutzi) Gingerich. He was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church, RR2, Baden, enjoyed gardening as a hobby and was a former employee of Hahn Brass (Stanley Works). Beloved husband of Mabel (Bast) Gingerich, for 54 years, dear father of Verlus and his wife Marietta, Ronald and his wife Judith, Robert and his wife Shirley, all of New Hamburg, Richard at home, loving grandfather of Dale, James, Jennifer, Jane, Margaret, David, Joanne and Mark; dear brother of Ivan and his wife Edna of Cambridge, Christian and his wife Doris of Kitchener; fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Visitation at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, after 7 p.m. tonight (Friday) and until Sunday at noon, when transfer will be made to Steinmann Mennonite Church for the service at 3 O'clock p.m., with Rev Fred Lichti officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.

    Gingerich. - Mary Gingerich was born in Oxford Co., Ont., Sept. 19, 1853. In early life she accepted Christ as her Savior and united with the East Zorra A. M. Church in which faith she lived till her death. On Dec. 30, 1880, she was married to David Gingerich of Johnson Co., Ia. This union was blessed with two children. Her husband died Sept. 13, 1885. The following year she moved to Canada and lived with her parents until they were called home. She then made her home with her brother Roy, on the old homestead, until the messenger of death called her to the great beyond very unexpectedly. She retired in good health as usual and the next morning when her brother went to her room to see why she did not get up he was just in time to see her pass away. She reached the age of 75 y. 2 m. 2 d. She leaves one son (Louis, Waterloo Co., Ont.), 1 daughter (Laura, wife of Jacob R. Zehr of Perth Co., Ont.), 10 grandchildren (2 preceded her in death), 6 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers, 1 sister, and a great many friends. Services were held at the home conducted by Jacob R. Bender and at the church by Daniel Jutzi and Manasseh Hallman. Texts, II Pet. 1: 4, Jno. 17: 24. Interment in the East Zorra A. M. Cemetery.

    John B Jutzi - (By Chronicle Correspondent) - BADEN - Bishop M. Hallman and D. S. Jutzi officiated at funeral services of John B. Jutzi, held at Steinman's Amish Mennonite Church, yesterday. Burial was made in Wilmot Centre cemetery. Ill for a lengthy period, Mr. Jutzi passed away early Monday at his home, R.R. 2, Petersburg, in his 78th year. Surviving are his wife, formerly Elizabeth Jantzi, three sons, John of Petersburg, Simeon of Baden and Rudy of Milverton, five daughters, Mrs. Louis Gingerich and Mrs. Noah Jantzi, both of R.R. 2, Petersburg, Mrs. Peter Nafziger of R.R. 2, Baden, Mrs. Daniel Roth of Tavistock, and Miss Nancy Jutzi at home.
