    The sad death took place early this morning of Mr. Eldon Brooks at his home on Ezra Ave. the deceased being aged 30 years seven months and 22 days. The deceased was the son of Mr. Jacob Brooks and was well and favorably known and his death will be learned with regret by a large circle of friends. He leaves to mourn a sorrowing widow and three small children and deepest sympathy is extended to them in this their hour of sorrow. The funeral will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock to the Mennonite church and cemetery.

    BROX-CLAYFIELD-1914

    A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnized at the home of Mr. Thomas Clayfield, Ezra Ave., Waterloo, on Wednesday, Dec 30th, at 3 o'clock when his daughter, Miss Lizzie Clayfield became the bride of Mr. Eldon Brox, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brox, of Waterloo. The bride was beautifully attired in a gown of white Pailette silk, trimmed with pearl beads and brocaded satin. She entered the parlor on the arm of her father. The bridal couple were attended by Miss Ada Schnarr, cousin of the groom, and Mr. Ben. Clayfield, brother of the bride. The Rev. Mr. Mathers officiated. After the ceremony a sumptuous supper was served to about 20 invited friends and relatives. The happy couple will reside in Waterloo.

    BROX-CLAYFIELD-1914

    The home of Mr. Thomas Clayfield, Ezra Ave., Waterloo, was the scene of a quiet but pretty wedding on Dec 30th, 1914, at 3 o'clock, when his daughter, Lizzie, was married to Mr. Eldon Brox, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Brox, of Waterloo. The bride entered the parlor on the arm of her father and was dressed in a beautiful white silk costume with pearl trimming, and wore a beautiful wreath of orange blossoms and veil, and carried a bouquet of white carnations. She was attended by Miss Ada Schnarr cousin of the groom and the groom was assisted by Mr. Ben Clayfield, brother of the bride. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Mathers, Waterloo, in the presence of about 20 invited guests, who sat down to a sumptuous wedding dinner. The young couple will reside in Waterloo.

    PACKER, Elizabeth - At KW Hospital, on Tuesday, June 7, 1988, age 101 years, formerly of 16 Ezra Ave., Waterloo.

    Mrs. Packer was born in Conestogo and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Clayfield. She was a member of First United Church, Waterloo, the Silver Cross Women and was a former Noble Grand in the Waterloo Crystal Rebekah Lodge.

    Dear mother of Mrs. Alice Simon of Scarborough. She is also lovingly remembered by three grandchildren, Barbara Lawlor and her husband Dan, Robert Simon and his wife Mavis and Donna Close and her husband Lawrence and three great. grandchildren, Donnie Lawlor, Scott and Brandon Simon.

    She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar Packer in 1971: one daughter, Mrs. Vera Muir in 10871 her brothers, Ben, John, Clarence, Lester and Arthur Clayfield and one sister, Annie.

    Mrs. Packer's family will receive friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S.. Water-loo, from 741 p.m. this evening and 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday. The funeral and committal service he held in the chapel of the funeral home, Thursday at 2 p.m., with Rev. Andrew Eustace officiating. Interment to follow in Mount Hope cemetery, Waterloo.

    MAN, 79, INJURED IN CAR ACCIDENT

    Walking into the side of a passing car. Thomas Clayfield, 31 Ezza Ave. Waterloo, early today was knocked to the pavement and badly injured. The 79-year-old man on his way to work, was crossing Erb St. when he apparently failed to see a vehicle approaching. He was hit by the front fender. Margaret Cummings, 5 William St. Elmira, driver of the car which is owned by lvan Shoemaker, R.R.3, Elmira, told police she saw Clayfield walking across the street and swung to the left to avoid hitting him. He paid no attention to the sounding horn, she said. Clayfield was taken to the K-W Hospital where he was found to be suffering from cuts on the forehead and head bruises. Chief of Police C.E. Moreau is conduction the investigation.

    Thomas Clayfield - The death occurred yesterday afternoon at the K-W Hospital of Thomas Clayfield, 31 Ezza Ave., Waterloo. He was born 80 years ago in Birmingham, England and came to Canada at the age of 18. Two years later he was married to Caroline Struck of Conestogo, who predeceased him in 1913. Surviving are his second wife, the former Esther Pearce of Paisly; five sons, John, Ben, Clarence and Arthur of Waterloo, and Lester of Detroit; and one daughter, Mrs Edgar (Elizabeth) Packer of Kitchener. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held from the Walsh Funeral Home Thursday at two o'clock. Rev. D.I. Forsyth will officiate. Burial will be made in the Waterloo Mount Hope Cemetery. The remains will rest at the funeral home until the time of the funeral.

    The death occurred Monday afternoon at the K-W Hospital of Thomas Clayfield, 31 Ezra Ave., Waterloo. He was born 80 years ago in Birmingham, Eng., and came to Canada at the age of 18. Two years later he was married to Caroline Struke of Conestogo, who predeceased him in 1913.

    Surviving are his second wife, the former Esther Pierce of Paisley; five sons, John, Ben, Clarence and Arthur of Waterloo and Lester of Detroit; and one daughter. Mrs. Edgar (Elizabeth) Packer of Kitc ener. Also surviving are 26 grand- children and 13 great grandchildren.

    The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Thos Clayfield were sorry to hear of the latter's sudden death which took place Thursday evening at St. Joseph's Hospital, Guelph, following an operation which had been performed a few hours before she expired. Deceased Caroline Struck was born in Germany on Aug. 3rd., 1865. When three years of age she came to Canada with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Struck. On January 5, 1885, she married Thos. Clayfied who survives her. Besides him she leaves to mourn the loss of a loving mother, five sons and three daughters, John, Conestogo, Ben, Clarence and Arthur, at home, Annie (Mrs. Frank Lorenz) Waterloo, and Lizzie and Emily, at home. Until four weeks ago she lived here all her life. The last few weeks she spent in Waterloo, where the family has moved. She attained the age of 47 years, 8 months and 28 days. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon from her late residence on Ezza street, Waterloo, to Mount Hope cemetery. Mr. Clayfield and family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.

    Death of Mrs. Clayfield

    The death took place on Thursday of Mrs. Thomas Clayfield of Waterloo, formerly of Conestogo. The deceased had been in ill health for several years and was aged 47 years, 8 months and 28 days. A sorrowing husband and eight children survive, namely John, Conestogo; Benjamin, Winerbourne; Clarence, Bloomingdale; Emily, Lester, Arthur, Annie (Mrs. Frank Lorenz), and Elizabeth, all of Waterloo. Also one sister Mrs. Jonas of near Conestogo. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon at 3'oclock from the late residence, Ezza Avenue, Waterloo to the Mount Hope Cem service, thence to Mount Hope cemetery for interment.

    Another one of the old settlers of Woolwich was laid to rest on Sunday. We refer to Jakob Brox, who died at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. William Dreisinger, in the village here. His death took place place here on Wednesday night. May 16 after less then two weeks illness. He died from bronchial trouble, having for years been afflicted with asthma. Deceased was born in Baden, Germany and came to Buffalo in 1849 where he was married to Catherine Ziegler. They came to Canada and for two years between St. Jacobs and Waterloo. Then they moved to Upper Woolwich where they lived for 37 years. Mr. Brox then sold his farm and moved to Elmira, where he lived the last 12 years. While living here one of his daughter died and about 2 years ago his wife. Fourteen children, seven sons and seven daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs Brox, all of whom are living but the daughter mentioned above. There are 38 grandchildren living. The funeral took place on Sunday forenoon and the large attendance of relatives and aquaintances testified to the respect in which Mr. Brox was held.
    Deceased had reached the age of 78 years 11 months and 29 days.
