Died. Stemmer - At the home of her son Lawrence Stemmer of Eagle Creek at 1: 30 o'clock, Wednesday morning, April 19, 1905, of the infirmities of age, Mary Anna Stemmer, aged seventy-nine years. Mary Anna Beisang was born in Germany, May 12, 1826. With her parents she came to America at the age of four years and after a short residence at Buffalo N. Y., the family went to Ontario, Canada, where they lived in the vicinity of St. Clemens for about twenty-five years. At Wilmot, Ontario, on Sept. 2, 1845, she became the wife of Francis Stemmer. In 1856 with their family of 5 children Mr. and Mrs. Stemmer came to Minnesota and bought a farm in Eagle Creek five miles east of Shakopee the farm now owned by her son Lawrence.

In the year 1888, they purchased a home in this city on Lewis Street and after a residence here of four years, Mr. Stemmer died at the age of seventy-six. Several years later Mrs. Stemmer returned to her old farm home where she lived with her son until her death.

Five children were born to Mr. And Mrs. Stemmer of whom three survive. Peter F., Caroline, wife of T. F. Duffy, and Lawrence, all residing in Eagle Creek. Francis the eldest son was drowned at the age of eight years in the Mississippi River, while the family were on their way to their Minnesota home from Canada. And a daughter, Susan, wife of Jacob Zettel, died at her home in Eagle Creek in 1891.

Mrs. Stemmer had been in failing health for several months but had been confined to her bed but two weeks when death came quite unexpectedly, and the tender, faithful, loyal, loving soul of "Grandma" Stemmer as she was lovingly known among her wide relationships in this vicinity, passed peacefully away to join the great company of the redeemed. Born and bred in the Catholic faith she was a deeply devout and consistent Christian woman, loyal and true to her church, her family, and her friends. The funeral services were held this morning at 9: 30 o'clock from St Mark's church and the remains were laid to rest beside those of her husband in the upper Catholic cemetery.

    An Old Settler Gone.

On Thursday last, Sept. 6th, as we went to press Mr. Ledogarius Beisang died at Marystown, at the residence of his son Bl. Beisang. Mr. Beisang was an old settler of Eagle Creek, and remained a citizen of that town until about two years ago. He located a claim in Eagle Creek on the road to Bloomington Ferry in 1854, and the next year built him a house and moved into it with his family. His son Frank Beisang took a claim adjoining him and in two or three years afterwards his son-in-law Mr. Francis Stemmer, bought an adjacent claim where he still lives. Afterwards another son (William) purchased adjoining on the west, where he still lives. Bl. Beisang having located at Marystown two years ago, the old gentleman took up his residence with him until his death, at the ripe age of eighty-one years. Mr. Beisang was a native of Canada. He was a quiet old gentleman and enjoyed the esteem and respect of all who knew him.
