    Aberle's Service Station

One of Elmira's older businessmen, namely Roy J. Aberle has conducted the Automotive Service Station located at the [north west] corner of Arthur and Water [now Wyatt] Streets for the past forty years. Roy has deeply appreciated the patronage of the citizens of Elmira and surrounding area and also that of the travelling public from outlying areas. The original Cities Service Products' building of 1933 was replaced by the present one in 1954. In July 1965 British Petroleum products were introduced. Mr. Aberle's sons, Gerald and Neil assisted their father during their school years. Both have joined the teaching profession following in their mother's footsteps rather than that of their father.

Roy J. Aberle Cities Service Station

Roy J. Aberle has conducted a successful business in the Cities Service Station, on the [north west] corner of Arthur and Water [now Wyatt] Streets, for the past 14 years. During these years he was assisted by many High School boys who earned pin-money by working part time: Leonard Rau (killed in a car accident), Merner Saddler, Buddy Hillis (killed overseas), Harold Schaub, Laverne Miller, Norman Hathaway, Donald Brox, Art Hahn, David Rowland (at present with the R.A.F., England). Mr. Aberle's own sons, Gerald and Neil, are now giving him a helping hand. The rainbow-coloured Studebaker shown in the picture, and used by Roy as a service car, was featured in the 1923 Old Boys Reunion as the most up-to-date car in Elmira at that time.

WEDDING BELLS - Last Wednesday evening St. Paul's Lutheran church was the scene of one of the those interesting events which always cause a ripple of excitement in the com-munity. The occasion was the marriage of Mr. Jacob Aberle, a well-known and respected young man of the neighborhood, to Miss Mary Geisel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Geisel of Woolwich Township. The ceremony was performed by Rev. W.C. Boese of Berlin, and was witnessed by a large number of spectators. Miss L. Geisel, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid while Mr. August Pfaff assisted the groom through the trying ordeal. After the wedding the young couple went to their future home on the Muth farm in Woolwich where a merry evening was spent by the young people who had been invited there. We join their many friends in wishing the young couple a long and prosperous married life.
