    E.J. Akitt, Ontario Marketing Manager, Imperial Oil Ltd. - Manager of the Ontario division of marketing departments for Imperial Oil Limited for the past year and an employee of the company for 20 years, Joseph Ernest Akitt, 57, died in St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, last Thursday.

    He leaves his widow, Jean Akitt; two sons, John and Alan Akitt; two brothers, Clifford and J.A. Akitt, and four sisters, Mrs. W.T. A?len of Collingwood, Mrs. R.C. M?, Mrs. Ethel Grimes and Mrs. B. Tegart?.

    Born near Horning's Mills, Mr. Akitt joined the firm as a salesman in Saskatoon. He went to Edmonton to supervise service stations and construction and in 1937 was moved to Calgary as city agent. Appointed sales manager for Saskatchewan in 1941, Mr. Akitt later became western coordinator of farm? sales development and in 1950 came to Toronto as regional manager of western marketing divisions.

    Mr. Akitt was a member of the Rotary and Carbon Clubs, the Lambton Golf Club and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He served in the Canadian Army in World War I and belonged to the United Church.
