    GONE TO HIS REST
REV J. FROSCH OF ST. PAULS LUTH. CHURCH, OF ELMIRA, PASSES AWAY

St. Paul's Lutheran congregation is in mourning over the death of its beloved pastor. Rev. J. Frosch, who died at Fort Wayne, Ind., on Saturday afternoon, June 18th. After Mr. Weichel's return on Friday and the news he brought of Mr. Frosch's condition, many of the friends of the reverend gentleman took hope again that he might yet recover; to them the news of his death so soon after was a great shock, while even those who had little or no hope of recovery heard the news of his decease with profound sorrow. Mr Frosch was Pastor of St. Paul's for about 17 years, and labored with the greatest self denial, diligence and faithfulness among his people. He worked often when his health was such that many a man in like condition would have laid down the armor; and during his last illness he did not give up his pastoral work until, urged by his friends and forced by weakness, he had to give up. Deceased was one of that class of men whom you love the more the better you get acquainted with them. He was of a retiring disposition, not given to making much fuss, and was thus misjudged by some who mistook his reserve and timidity for pride and coldness. About four weeks ago he went to Mt. Clemens, Mich. to seek restoration of his health at the baths there. But it availed him nothing and he was taken to the home of his wife's parents at Fort Wayne where he was under the care of a noted specialist. In spite of all that could be done he got no better and passed to his rest on Saturday afternoon, June 18, being yet in the prime of life, only about 41 years old. "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord, yea the spirit saith that they rest from their labors and their works do follow them."
