    Dear Friends
You will now be looking for a letter from me at least that you incline that way. I daresay I might have written sometime ago but thought uncle Bill would give you a dose to last for a few weeks & then he wrote you back giving you some more. The first news I have is Mrs Pringle has moved to her Village seat she was coming all winter but only got in this week and not very strong since she arrived: the cough troubles her considerable and she is quite failed but we are trying to doctor her up a little The rest of the folks are just as usual all tolerably well and all going prosperously the spring is making its appearence and the weather for a few days has been splendid but the roads are very sloppy The sleighing still continues but then you are aware the people will run sleighs long after the roads are in many places bare. The council talks of giving us a new bridge and one [is] going up at Nithvale and if the Railway comes here and there is little doubt but it will do so then Ayr will be much better for a while at least when building and long after it for it cant possibly

make us any worse The Charter has been granted and Things look now like a Railway for Ayr and wont that be delightful The prospects are now certainly very good

This Alexander Kays sale he intends quitting the farming and going to some useful occupation such as a Photographer or some enterprising business where he can loaf 3/4ths of his time...
