    DONALD HERBERT MOORE Passed away, at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, Ontario on Wednesday, February 13, 2008. Loving and beloved husband of Mary Moore (Tripp) for 59 years. Loving father of Patricia Douglas and Brian and his wife Barbara. Dear Gramps of Shawn and Mark Douglas and Katie, Jennifer and Sarah Moore. Don was a very loving and caring person who always wore a smile. His first love was his family whom he cherished. Don was born in Buffalo, New York, son of the late R. Wesley Moore and Myra Middleton Moore and the late Electa Strong Moore. Brother of the late Robert M. Moore and William E. Dempster. Don enjoyed a 45 year career with the Mutual Life Assurance Company of Canada, working in offices in Waterloo, Hamilton, Toronto, St. Catharines and Timmins, where he met Mary. In 1949, Don was appointed Branch manager of Mutual Life's Oshawa branch, where he remained until 1969 when he returned to Head Office in Waterloo. Following his retirement from Mutual Life in 1978, Don worked for a few years with the Kitchener Chamber of Commerce. During the Second World War, Don served with the Royal Canadian Navy in Halifax. Don was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club, serving as President of the Oshawa Kiwanis Club in 1967. Don was also a member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Granite Club, the Probus Club, the Retired Business and Professional Men's Club and KCI's Boys of the Thirties, as well as a volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Arthritis Society. Visitation was held on Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King Street South, Waterloo from 4-6 p.m. A private family service will be held at the Church of the Holy Saviour in Waterloo, where in his youth, Don served as a choir boy, and in his adult life as Rector's Warden and sidesman. If desired, donations may be made in Don's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Arthritis Society and can be arranged through the funeral home, 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com. In living memory of Don a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
